Just a thought:
Could have been better plot
If Neil had to fight for Avni why didn't he just say she didn't have to explain and talk it out with her later how he felt seeing Ali and Avni in compromising situation

He goes and gets drunk calls Riya has DD take a video and then comes back explains to family??!! - CV could have done a better job

Yeah! And in all that time he was off doing that, his wife was being humiliated and degraded by his family. When his mother said all that to avni right in front of him, how did he expect his mother and family to treat his wife in his absence when he walks out looking upset and doesn't come back? He should have said something there and then.
