Okay I am gonna be brutally honest here.
Ali has completely forgotten that there is a difference between love and friendship.Love and friendship have their separate identities and the blunder which people make most often is that they confuse friendship for love.
Ali started off as an adorable friend to Avni who stood by her during her childhood.He was her pillar of support.The friendship between the two kiddos was too pure and innocent.
But when the leap happened something had changed about Ali's character.He was shown to be madly and deeply in love with Avni.Yes love.Romantic love.That was hell confusing😕
Not only did he believe that he and Avni are janam janmantar ke saathi but he also believed that she will come running into his arms.😕It would have been more believable if he had been waiting for his childhood friend Avni instead of the non existent lover Avni who existed only in his imagination.
If Avni rejects his feelings and he suffers for it then he is the one to be responsible for the mess.He made khayali pulao and served it too.TBH Avni's state of mind was such at that time that forget love she couldn't even understand what it was.She was a 10 year old child who suffered from endless emotional carnage and was nearly murdered.She grew up with a lot of repressed anger within her.
The reason why she is connected to Neil is because he is the only person apart from Neela who saw what was within her.He was empathetic and not sympathetic.He shared her pain and sorrows.He understood her in a manner in which no one ever did.
That's the difference between a friend (Ali) and a life partner (Neil).A life partner is someone who plays the role of a friend,philosopher,guide,emotional anchor and lover.The reason why Avni's love interest turned out to be a completely new person instead of Ali with whom she was familiar is because it's only a complete stranger who could have viewed her in a different light.He was a not a part of her past because he had to understand what she had become and try to heal her heart.This is why Neil is the one for Avni.
Now coming back to Ali,he has betrayed the pure bond of friendship in the worst possible manner.Avni has clearly stated that she loves him as her best friend.It's nothing more than that.But he is still building castles in the air.
Neil's character won't be butchered.Maybe Ali's confession will trigger Neil's feelings for her and he will make a move.
But I am 98% sure that Ali will turn out to be a psychotic obsessive lover looking at his current state.He has also forgotten that real or fake,Avni is married now and she is off limits.This guy is insulting the institutions of love,marriage and friendship at the same time.
