Living in such a society would mean that all children are born out of wedlock. Some men and women would have multiple partners and multiple children from each of them.

In such a society there would be no moral stigma because it is likely that most of the people do not believe in religion.

we have a family structure ...We

have to fellow so that it gives good foundation and balance to our

life .Little change can be made to suit present condition but you

should not shake the main pillar.

It is in my opinion it may differ person to person...😳

If you take western world as you have written anonee...Some men

and women would have multiple partners and multiple children

from each of them.

Do we want our people to live like that ...??...in no way...like this below

I voted yes. It all depends what you view marriage as. A bonding with a soul mate or being practical and viewing the relationship as a contract. Those of us who are lucky will end up with a soul mate or a friend after the first few awkward months or years. Others will find that their partner has no wish to put anything into the relationship and thereby ends up being a burden on the other.

Very nicely put - we human are social creatures. We need to know who our ancestors were -what did they engage in and what sort of community did they live in.

We like that sense of family bonding and maintaining family traditions!

This is true of both eastern and western cultures.

But in the east, and particularly in India - our family defines our identity.

Nicely stated view point.

Yes "It all depends what you view marriage as"

But we all are members of 'society". Every society tries to protect its most vulnerable members, this includes women and children. In order to protect them from men who would use and abuse them society has created laws whereby the socio-economic status of women and children is protected by marriage.

Ashish and Asha are living by their view of marriage - but Avni their child is daily being emotionally traumatized by her peers in school. Both her parents are turning a blind eye and do not care a wit about her situation. This is where societal laws of marriage are needed to protect the children.

Of course if all members of society do away with marriage then it is a different story.

Yes, you and the majority who responded to this poll - voted a No.

This is interesting. Iceland, the only country in the world, where people have adopted to do away with marriage are now supposedly slowing coming back a full circle. The reasons are complex and I do not want to go there.

But Iceland is a country with a very low population. The number of single moms there is on the rise and this one of the factors that they are wondering what gives!
