You nailed it. When it comes to focus on love even that is not done properly. They are trying to make Jay and Bani look like a couple by showing their flashbacks which most of us are not able to connect, then there is Veer Bani who are also given flashbacks but the problem is Veer is being demonized in the promos.

Even though Veer and Bani are amazing, there seems to be no proper justification given to them as a couple. Like if they are the ones meant to be then ekta and Mukta will have to show kind of reason over why they are to be united, like maybe a cosmic angle like how it was for Rivanya.

There are several major reasons why this season the ratings are so low:

A huge drop in overall ITV viewership since post-lockdown is one reason, because even all the top shows in top 3 are getting much lower ratings compared to what top 3 shows before lockdown used to get.

Also, promotions for this season are so bad. Now that the reincarnation has happened they are not even promoting properly on tv. That is the second factor. They need to show more tv promos for this season, but also they especially need to portray the veer-bani angle better in promos, because they are portraying veer as the typical villain who wants to split the couple in the promos, when the dynamics of the love triangle are more than that in the show. They should represent the love triangle in a more accurate way in the promos that reflect the way it is in the actual episodes to make it seem more appealing.

Third factor is that the ITV audience are becoming fatigued with the naagin series. It's naagin season 5 after all.

I completely agree with what have you said @Closer. The flashbacks are too much, the love scenes are directed awfully, the dialogue delivery is very unnatural and there are a lot flaws in this season in terms episodes execution. The promos are the let down they are simply awful and have no creativity. And this is the fact that Naagin franchise isnt working anymore because nobody want to see the same thing repeating again and again. Colors should stop bringing this low budget supernatural fantasy show again and again and should bring better quality content. Naagin is no more 2020's cup of tea.

1. Either they should have kept Hina and Dheeraj as leads or they should move on as you mention correctly. Again and again showing the past means people invest more in them than the current cast.

2. I still stand by that the dubbing is awful. Surbhi’s voice is fine why are they doing this whispery speed talking. It’s really not coming as natural on both her and Sharad. I don’t know what this voice over shit is.

3. Styling - it is a fact that naagin is associated with sultry and glamorous outfits. The clothes which they are giving to Surbhi who has lost tons of weight make her actually look heavier when she’s not. I’ve seen her in jeans and shirt and she looks great.

4. Cast- supporting cast is abysmal. Eg if Surbhi marries into Veer’s family, TRP audience won’t accept anything that isn’t ‘family’ like. It’s a bunch of men living in a gangster adda. Mohit as Jay is horrible, this is not gonna work you cannot have a parallel lead as someone who is this badly miscast.

5. Revenge - they had an opportunity to do something different. They could have shown naagins as the wrong ones for once and the cheel taking revenge and for once the naagin being unaware? They need to build up a universe, go into their mythology and they’re doing none of that. I’ll give an example of the vampire diaries or the originals where they did a fantastic job of making the audience sympathize and even ship the villain with the FL.
