CHAPTER 5
When Kuhu came running downstairs, she could not find Maahir and so she asked the receptionist if she had seen him getting out and she told Kuhu that Maahir just stormed out of the building. Kuhu then tried calling Maahir but the phone kept on ringing and no one picked it up from the other side. Kuhu immediately called Maahir's secretary and instructed her to reschedule all his appointments for some other day. Kuhu was extremely tensed and impatient and said to herself, "Ye Maahir to phone bhi nehi utha raha hai. Abhi main usko kaha dhundhu? Jab Bela usko 8 saal pehle chor kar gayi thi tabhi usne kitna bara kadam uthaya tha. Abhi to usko ye pata chala hai ke uski ek beti hai jiske baare mein usey 8 saalo tak andhere mein rakkha gaya, pata nehi abhi vo kya karega. Kuhu kept calling Maahir with the hope that at one point he might pick up her call and continued searching all the places where she knew he would go. After almost 2 hours, Kuhu's phone started ringing. She picked up the call hurriedly without looking at the number.
K : "Hullo Maahir kaha ho tum?
Stranger : "Hullo main police station se OC bol raha hu. Aapka miss call is phone par dekha to isiliye aapko call kar raha hu. Kya abhi aap police station aa sakti hai?
K : (Kuhu was tensed on getting the call from police and doubted that something very bad might have happened to Maahir) "Ji ha ye number mere friend Maahir Sehgal ka hai. Lekin baat kya hai officer? Usko kuch...
O : "Ji unke car ka accident ho gaya hai rash driving ke vajah se.
K : (screamed) "What?
O : "But don't worry unhe sirf kuch maamuli chotein hi aayi hai. Vo abhi hamaare yaha police station mein hai. Aap aakar fine bhar kar please unhe le jaaiye.
K : "Main abhi aa rahi hu.
Kuhu was relieved on hearing that nothing has happened to Maahir and she immediately rushed to the police station. When she got there, she found Maahir sitting there with his head being dressed and there were injuries on his face and his suit was torned, but he didn't seem to have any concern for what happened or what could have happened to him and was lost in his own thoughts with a straight face barely having any expression making it difficult for Kuhu to understand his exact state of mind. Kuhu was so angry with him that she wanted to confront Maahir but then thought against it since she didn't want to create any scene at the police station and decided to face him off when she took him home. Maahir went to meet the OC and after completing all the formalities took Maahir with her and she drove him back to him home.
On the way to his home, Maahir didn't speak a single word nor did Kuhu ask any questions. After reaching Maahir's apartment building, he pulled him out of the car and dragged him straight to his apartment and Maahir too didn't raise any protest. After getting inside his apartment, Kuhu pushed Maahir inside and angrily yelled at him, "Are you out of your mind Maahir? Kya main jaan sakti hu ke tum kya soch rahe the? Maahir didn't reply her questions but was sitting completely silent as if none of Kuhu's words were getting inside of his ears. Kuhu crossed her arms around her chest and asked,Main tumse kuch puch rahi hu Maahir? Maahir didn't reply to Kuhu's question and slowly got up and went inside his gym and locked the door from inside. Kuhu's heart squeezed with an unknown fear as she knew that Maahir was going through a huge emotional turmoil which no one in this world would understand but she was more scared as Maahir still now didn't react to this whole thing and suppressing that grief inside himself just like what he did when Bela left him which proved to be fatal that time and so she didn't want the history to repeat itself again and therefore Maahir had to let out his grief. Kuhu walked up to the gym room and knocked at the door but there was no response. Inside, Maahir was standing still looking at Bela's photos while his eyes turned red due to the tears formed as Bulbul's photographs flashed into his mind. He pulled out all of Bela's photos from the walls and gathered a pile of the photos on the floor. Maahir was hurt when Bela left him and so he shut all the doors so that nothing could pull any string of his heart again but the moment he came to know about Bulbul's existence, that betrayal tore his heart into pieces and each piece of his heart filled with hatred for Bela as he felt like she had backstabbed him by hiding that big secret from him. Maahir took out a bottle of whiskey from the closet and emptied half of the bottle on the photographs. On the other side, Kuhu said,Maahir...Maahir meri baat suno, I know tumhe bohot gussa aa raha hai, tum bohot hurt huye ho. Trust me tumhaare jagah par agar main hoti to main bhi bilkul aise hi react karti. Lekin tum please ulta seedha mat karna Maahir please. Apne baare mein nehi, Bela ke baare mein bhi nehi lekin, apni beti ke baare mein socho, us maasoom ke baare mein socho, uski in sab mein koi galti nehi hai na. Vo bachchi usko to shaayad pata bhi nehi hoga ke tum uske papa ho. Humse ye baat 8 saalo se chupi thi, chupi hi rehti lekin aaj tumhe ye baat pata chali hai to iska matlab to yehi hua na ke bhagwaan khud chahte hai ke tum apni beti se milo. Please Maahir tumhaare dimaag mein jo kuch bhi chal raha hai usko ek dafa side par rakh kar sirf apni bachchi ke baare mein socho. Usey tumhaari zarurat hai, please Maahir. Maahir was about to throw a burning matchstick on the photos but stopped on hearing Kuhu's words. He put off the fire in the matchstick by holding it inside his fist. He walked towards the door and opened that for Kuhu. When Kuhu saw him well and good, she gave a deep sigh and said,Ek din mein do do jhatke diye hai tumne mujhe. Kuch aur karna baaki rakkha hai tumne? Maahir pointed at the pile of Bela's photos and said,Jab isne meri baato par yakeen nehi kiya, mujhe tab bhi usse nafrat nehi hui, jab ye mujhe chor kar gayi mujhe bohot gussa aaya tha uspar lekin tab bhi nafrat nehi hui. Aaj jab mujhe ye pata chala meri ek aulaad hai jisko mujhse 8 saalo tak isne chupa kar rakkha, mere dil mein aag lagi hui hai, jee kar raha hai ke sab kuch jala du main usme aur aaj pehli baar mujhe usse itni nafrat ho rahi hai ke dil kar raha hai usey barbaad kar du, usey itni taklif du ke uske liye uski zindagi ek sazaa ban jaaye lekin dekho na... He chuckled sadly and continued,Main to uski photo tak nehi jala paaya. Usne mujhse pyar bhi kiya, nafrat bhi ki par mujhse na to thik se pyar ho paaya aur dekho aaj to nafrat bhi thik se nehi ho paayi. Kuhu put her hand on his shoulder and then Maahir broke down and dashed on the floor. He hugged Kuhu tightly and said,Bina koi galti ke mujhe itni bari sazaa mil rahi hai. Pehle maine apne mom aur dad ko khoya, phir Bela meri zindagi mein aai jisey maine apna sab kuch maana phir vo bhi chali gayi, mera parivaar phir se khatam ho gaya aur ab... He broke the hug and said,Mera ek bachcha hai, meri ek choti si bachchi hai ab to uske alava meri zindagi mein kuch bacha hi nehi hai, meri life mein apna kehne waala uske alava koi nehi hai, usko bhi Bela ne mujhse door rakkha. Ek tum hi ho na jo mujhe mujhse achchi tarah se jaanti ho? Tum hi bolo na kya ye main deserve karta hu? Kyu bhagwaan hamesha mere saath hi aisa karta hai? He broke into tears as he hugged Kuhu back and cried as loud as possible, cried his heart out and Kuhu consoled him by hugging him back. On one side, even Kuhu had tears in her eyes realizing how much pain had been dumped inside Maahir's heart for all those years but on the other side, she was glad that it came out at last. Maahir slowly stopped crying after a long time and composed himself and he felt very light from inside as the tears had washed away the burden of grief from his heart. Kuhu wiped her tears too and made him sit on the sofa. She too sat beside him and asked,Par mujhe ek baat samajh mein nehi aayi ke vo mail tumhe bheja kisne? Maahir chuckled and said,Tum shaayad yakeen nehi karogi agar maine tumhe bataya bhi to. Kuhu got confused and asked,"Kya matlab? Maahir replied,Uska naam Bulbul hai aur pata hai mujhe usse bhagwaan ne nehi, khud usne mujhe dhundh kar nikaala hai. Kuhu was still confused and Maahir told her everything about her and how she forcefully made him talk to her. On hearing these, Kuhu was shell shocked and she asked,Maahir itna sab kuch ho gaya aur tum mujhe abhi bata rahe ho ye sab? Maahir replied,Arey mujhe to pata bhi nehi tha ke Bela India chorne se pehle pregnant thi phir to shaayad main maan bhi leta. Maine khud hi uski baato par yakeen nehi kiya. Kitni ajeeb baat hai ek larki ne mujhe kabhi dekha nehi, maine usko kabhi dekha nehi lekin iske baavajud vo mujhse itna pyar karti hai aur usne kya kya nehi kiya mujhse baat karne ke liye aur aaj main usse baat karne ko paagal ho raha hu. Kuhu nodded her head and replied,Really yaar!! Tumhaari beti sach mein bohot maahir hai. Now I really want to meet her. By the way now I remember one thing...Last time jab main Bela se mili thi, vo bohot khush thi aur tumse milne airport aayi thi aur usne kaha ke usko tumhe kuch bataana hai bohot important hai. I'm sure vo tumhe apni pregnancy ki baat bataane aa rahi thi aur uske baad to vo sab kuch ho gaya and then she left. Maahir looked very sad and lost and said,Agar vo sab kuch meri zindagi mein na hua hota to aaj...aaj Bela mere saath hoti. Main uske liye vo sab kuch karta jo meri mom hoti to uske liye aise time par karti. Aadhi raat ko vo mujhe uthaati aur main uske liye khaana banaata, uske cravings ke demands purey karta. Aaj jab main Bulbul ki photos dekh raha tha tab mujhe laga in sab mein main bhi to ho sakta tha, ye saari yaadein meri ho sakti thi. Jab mera bachcha paida hota to main usko pehli baar goad mein uthaata, uska vo pehla dolta hua kadam, uska vo pehli baar mera ungliyan thaamna, uska pehli baar mujhe 'papa' bulaana, totli zabaan se mujhse baatein karna jo mere alava aur koi samajh na paaye, uski ma se chupaakar usko Punjabi khaana khilaana, usko jee bhar kar spoil karna, usko sulaate sulaate khud so jaana. Phir jab vo daudna seekhti to uske peeche peeche bhaagna ke kahi vo gir na jaaye. Maine sab kuch miss kiya hai yaar. Bela ne mujhse sab kuch cheen liya hai. Usne mujhe meri zindagi ki sabse bari sazaa di hai. Kuhu put her hand on his shoulder and replied,I know tumhe bohot bura lag raha hai but tum ye socho ke you're a father now Maahir, I think that's the best feeling in the world right now. Maahir had a smile on his face and nodded his head. Kuhu thought that Maahir at first should digest this shock so that he could make rational decision about everything and for that he needed some alone time to process everything that just happened in his life. She looked at the time and said,Bohot time ho gaya hai Maahir main chalti hu. I think abhi tumhe thora time akele bitaane ki zarurat hai aur please promise karo ke tum kuch bhi ulta seedha nehi karoge aur khaana time par kha loge. Maahir, without looking at Kuhu said,Tumne abhi abhi kaha hai ne ke abhi mujhe jo kuch bhi karna hai Bulbul ke baare mein soch kar karna hai, uske liye jeena hai. Main kuch bhi ulta seedha nehi karunga I promise. Kuhu smiled and patted on Maahir's back and left from there.
Maahir could not sleep for the whole night and was only thinking about Bulbul and how Bela deceived him. He could not wait more to talk to Bulbul and really wanted to know more about her. Next day, after getting to office, Maahir asked the receptionist to divert all his calls directly to his cell phone with the hope that Bulbul would call her. He was walking impatiently and waiting for her call and at last his phone buzzed. He almost ran towards his phone and picked it up in such a way as if his life was stuck inside it.
B : "Hi daddy!!
On hearing the voice of Bulbul, earlier he used to be very annoyed but today was something different, today it was the only voice apart from Bela, which he really wanted to hear. He used to be so angry whenever Bulbul used to address him as daddy' but today his eyes filled with tears when he heard daddy' from her lips. He was so overwhelmed that even if he wanted to speak, nothing formed in his mouth.
B : "Daddy aap phone par ho na?
M : (after some more time Maahir was finally able to speak out) "H...h...hi!!
B : "Aapko mere photos miley the na daddy? Main aapko na phone nehi kar paayi aaj subhe test tha na aur mujhe paraai bhi karni thi. Isiliye aaj sabke sone ke baad main aapko phone kar rahi hu. Mamma to ek number ki vulture hai, agar pata chala na unko to mera bedroom mein akele sona bandh kara degi.
M : "I'm...I'm...I'm so sorry baby!!
His voice was shaking and hearing that Bulbul felt very bad.
B : "Daddy aap ro rahe ho? Kyu?? Aapko kisine hurt kiya?
M : (chuckled) "No...Actually aapne mujhe phone kiya aur maine aapse itna rudely baat kiya. I'm so sorry!!
B : "Oh don't worry daddy!! Mujhe aapki baato ka bilkul bhi bura nehi laga. Mmm... I mean laga tha pehle but naani ne bataya na ke aapko pata nehi tha to aise mein agar mujhe aapke baare mein pata nehi hota aur aap mujhe aakar ye kehte ke aap mere daddy ho to main bhi bilkul aise hi react karti na.
M : "Thanks!! Actually mere paas itna sab kuch hai aapko bolne ke liye, aapse puchne ke liye but kaha se shuru karu mujhe kuch samajhme nehi aa raha hai. Vaise aapne mujhe pehle contact kyu nehi kiya beta?
B : "Mujhe bas aapka naam pata tha aur ye pata tha ke aap QUEENS mein pilot the aur maine sirf aapki photo dekhi thi par aap abhi kya karte ho ye mujhe nehi pata tha yaha tak ke naani ko bhi nehi pata tha. Vo to kuch dino pehle mall mein ek magazine mein maine aapki photo dekhi tab mujhe sab kuch pata chala.
M : "You know jab maine aapki photo dekhi I was so angry at your mother, abhi bhi hu, how could your mother not tell me about you?
B : "Mamma aapse gussa hai na pata nehi kyu. Par koi baat nehi abhi to aap mujhe mil gaye ho na daddy. Abhi main aap dono ki friendship waapas se karwa dungi. Main jaanti hu mamma aapse bohot pyar karti hai aur isiliye vo us chimpanjee se shaadi nehi karna chahti hai aur main hone bhi nehi dungi.
M : (he was shocked) "What??? Mamma ki shaadi ho rahi hai?
B : "Usdin to bataya tha aapko aap bhul gaye? Naanu unki shaadi karwaana chahte hai, mamma nehi karna chahti hai. Par na vo chimpanjee jis tareeke se mamma ke saath buttery buttery baate karte hai na mujhe to dar lagta hai ke kahi mamma na pat na jaaye.
Maahir was shocked on hearing about Bela's remarriage plans and more than shocked he was hurt thinking how Bela had totally forgotten about their love. For a couple of seconds, Maahir's love for Bela had gained control over his heart but within a few seconds his anger got the driving seat and he composed himself.
M : "I...I didn't listen to you that time properly but ye jo aapke naanu hai na hamesha hi meri love story ke sabse bare villain the. Unke liye sirf unki naak maaine rakhti hai no matter ke unki beti mere saath kitni khush thi. Pata nehi unko mujhse problem kya thi? QUEENS ka one of the best pilots tha main aur aap fikar mat kijiye aapki mamma ko pataana itna asaan nehi hai, mujhse zyaada achche se ye baat koi nehi jaanta, maine khud kitne papad bele the uske liye. B : (she became very happy when Maahir unintentionally talking about her mother) "Really?? That's so romantic!! To daddy promise karo ke jab hum milenge aap mujhe na apni puri love story detail mein sunaaoge.
Maahir suddenly realized what he was talking and he immediately changed the topic.
M : "I'm sorry beta, mujhe aapke naanu ke baare mein aise nehi bolna chahiye tha.
B : (she immediately corrected him) "Nehi nehi daddy aap bolo mujhe bohot achcha lag raha hai. Mujhe na bas unki jee bhar kar buraai karne ka chance nehi milta kyuki after all ye unka ghar hai aur naani chahe kitna bhi cool ho, par naanu to unke husband hai na mamma ke saamne to karke koi faayda nehi hai. Achcha hai abhi na mujhe bhi koi mil gaya jiske saamne main bhar bhar ke naanu ki buraai kar sakti hu.
M : "Par beta vo aapke naanu hai na, aapse bare hai to baro ke baare mein...
B : (she was very angry at Maahir when he made that statement) "Dekho daddy achche khaase mere daddy the, daddy banke raho, mamma banne ki zarurat nehi hai. Vo mamma ke papa hai aapke thore hi hai to aapko kya problem ho rahi hai? Vo hamesha mere saamne aapki buraai karte hai tab to unko koi kuch nehi kehta aur jab main kuch kahu to sab mujhe lecture dene beth jaate hai. Abhi aap bhi mujhe lecture dene beth gaye na to main aapse kabhi bhi baat nehi karungi.
M : (immediately apologized) "Ok ok I'm sorry!!
B : "Its ok daddy koi baat nehi.
M : "Bulbul aapki mamma thik to hai na?
B : "Mamma thik hai but naani kehti hai ke she's not happy without you.
M : "Ok mamma ke baare mein choro, main to sirf abhi apni baby ke baare mein sunna chahta hu.
They talked about almost for an hour, actually Maahir didn't that much only Bulbul, Maahir just listened to her as he was enjoying each and everything Bulbul was saying. Suddenly, Bulbul's eyes fall on the clock.
B : "Daddy main phone rakh rahi hu bohot late ho gaya hai, mujhe kal school bhi jaana hai.
M : "Beta aap na mera personal number rakhlo aur apna number mujhe dedo, phir hum jab chahe tab baat kar sakenge.
B : "No no daddy aap phone mat karna, varna mamma aur naanu ko pata chal jaayega. Main aapko roz call karungi school se aane ke baad tab naani ke alava ghar mein aur koi nehi rehta hai.
M : "Ok done and you know what, I so want to see you.
B : "Vo to mujhe bhi aapse milna hai daddy. Ok good night daddy...oho aapke yaha to abhi morning hai to... bye daddy I love you.
M : "I love you too!!
Before disconnecting the call, Maahir gave her his personal number so that she could call him easily at any time and Maahir had a big smile on his face as if he had found his long lost treasure of happiness. He left his cabin and went to Kuhu's cabin where he found Rohit and both of them were chatting and laughing and were feeding each other pastries. On seeing them, Maahir at first cleared his throat in order to grab their attention and Kuhu and Rohit became very conscious. Maahir smiled and asked,Maine tum dono ko interrupt to nehi kiya na? Rohit nodded his head and replied,Oh no!! Its just aaj hamaari 3rd anniversary hai, aaj ke din 3 saal pehle maine Kuhu ko I love you' bola tha so we were just having a personal celebration. Maahir clapped and said,So that calls for a double celebration!! Aaj raat ko dinner aur drinks meri taraf se. Kuhu and Rohit exchanged their looks and Kuhu asked,Double celebration?? Maahir shook Kuhu's arms and replied,Main baap ban gaya hu Kuhu, I'm a father now!! I mean... 8 saal pehle bana tha par pata to ab chala hai so it definitely calls for a celebration. Tum dono ko koi problem to nehi hai na? I mean if you have other plans... "Oh no!! Not at all!!, said Rohit, "Bilkul bhi nehi Iswaqt humse zyaada khushi ki baat to tumhaare liye hai, ye khushi baar baar nehi aati hai. Hamaara kya hai hamaare liye to har roz private party hai. Vaise hum soch rahe the ke apni anniversary hum agle hafte ek chote se vacation mein celebrate karenge, bas destination choose karna baaki hai.Maahir said,So its settled then!! Meet you at 8, main tum logo ko par ha 11 baje tak mujhe ghar pohochna hai kyuki Bulbul uswaqt school se waapas aa jaati hai aur usne mujhse kaha hai ke vo aane ke baad mujhe phone karegi, isliye late bilkul mat karna. Rohit and Kuhu agreed and Maahir left from there all excited.

Bulbul was so excited after taling to Maahir especially when he acknowledged her that she woke up just at time before anyone could call her to wake her up. At first, she ran to Madhu and said,Naani naani kal na maine daddy se baat ki hai pata hai unko mere photos miley aur unhone mujhpar yakeen bhi kar liya. Madhu kissed her on her head and said,Haww!! Ye to bohot achcha hua. Main jaanti thi tu zarur kaamyaab hogi. "Kya baate ho rahi hai naani aur nawaasi ke beech mein? Madhu and Bulbul looked at the direction of the voice with a jerk and found that Bela, all dressed up and ready for office, was walking towards them while working on her tab. Bulbul swallowed the lump formed on her throat and looked at Madhu all scared and Madhu, in order to cover up, said,Dekh na aaj subhe bina bulaaye time par uth gayi. Varna isko neend se uthaana to matlab ek aur bohot bara kaam hota hai subhe ka. Bela gave a side hug to Bulbul and said,Aap to hamesha meri jaan ki jaan ke peeche par jaati ho mamma, main to hamesha hi kehti thi ki meri Bulbul bari samjhdaar hai. Bulbul looked at Bela curving her brows and said,Aap meri mamma hi ho na? I mean aaj aap naani waala dialogue kyu maar rahi ho? Aap to aisi bilkul bhi nehi ho. Bela turned off her tab and replied,Lo ji ye to hadh hi ho gayi! Agar main achcha bolu to bhi problem aur agar daatu to bhi problem. Sahi kehte hai, is duniya mein kisiko khush karna bohot bari problem hai. Bulbul hugged Bela by her waist and said,Bura nehi maante hai mamma, aap to meri achchi mamma ho na. Bela replied,Achcha thik hai abhi makkhan lagaane ki zarurat nehi hai. Vaise mamma main aapko ek baat bataana bhul gayi, kal jab main office mein thi to maami ka phone aaya tha, Suhaani ki shaadi pakki ho gayi hai. Agle mahine hi shaadi hai to hum sabko bulaaya hai aur kaha hai ke hum abhi chale jaaye to shaadi ke saare rituals mein enjoy bhi kar lenge aur unki madat bhi. Hum to jaayenge nehi, agar aap jaana chahti hai to main saara arrangement karwa deti hu. Madhu was very happy thinking of going to India after so many years but she said,Ye to bohot khushi ki khabar hai, itne saalo baad India jaane ka mera to bara mann hai lekin tum log nehi jaaoge to main akeli jaakar kya karungi? Bela nodded her head and replied,Aap jaanti hai mamma main kyu India nehi jaana chahti hu aur aapki bhanji ki shaadi hai, aap kyu nehi jaayengi? Agar ye shaadi duniya ke kisi bhi kone mein hoti to main chali jaati but not India especially Delhi. Never!! On hearing about the marriage, for Bulbul it was like, something which you want desperately from the core of your heart, God always fulfills that wish' and Bulbul's heart was already beating or it would be better to say jumping with happiness when she thought about it as an opportunity to meet her father, she said,Mamma kitna time ho gaya main bhi kahi nehi gayi, naani ke saath main bhi jaaungi.Bela immediately rejected the plan and replied,No way!! You are not going anywhere alone Bulbul and that too without me aur India to totally off limits! Bulbul said,Kyu India mein kya buraai hai? Maine kabhi India nehi dekha, mujhe pata hai waha aapka ghar hai, main alag alag countries mein aapke bohot saare relatives ke ghar gayi par India mein kabhi nehi gayi. Maine TV par dekha hai Indian weddings bari mazedaar hoti hai. Bohot achche achche Indian khaana khaane milenge. Bela gave a mocking smile to Bulbul and said,Beta tum apni mamma ko jitna bewakuf samajhti ho na, mamma utni bewakuf nehi hai mela babu, mujhe achchi tarah se pata hai ke tumhe shaadi mein koi dilchaspi nehi hai, tum to waha apne daddy ko dhundhne jaana chahti ho. Bulbul made an angry face and said,That's not fare aap hamesha mujhpar doubt karti ho. Isliye mujhe aap par bohot gussa aata hai. Main bore ho gayi hu Canada mein. Mera bhi to mann karta hai bahaar ghumne ka. Bela pulled Bulbul's cheeks and said,To thik hai agle hafte mamma aur Bulbul hamaari private jet mein Itlay jaayenge, sirf hum dono ek hafte ki vacation par. Main aaj hi saara arrangement kar dungi. Bulbul, in almost a pleading tone said,Mamma mujhe Italy nehi India jaana hai aur main akeli nehi jaaungi naani ke saath jaaungi. Bulbul was about to protest but Bela stopped her in the middle and said,Bohot ho gaya Bulbul, ab mujhe aur koi bakwaas nehi sunni hai, tum nehi ja rahi ho that's final!! Bulbul angrily turned her face away from Bela and crossed her arms around her chest. Seeing that Bela softened a little bit and bowed down towards her and said,Bulbul, mera baby dekho agar aise tum muh utaar kar rahogi to aaj mera pura din spoil ho jaayega. Ye mat bhulo ke unke paas tumhaare khilaaf saboot bhi hai aur uske basis par na tumhe zindagi bhar kabhi bhi Bulbul ki custody nehi milegi upar se life mein agar kabhi bhi usse milne ka mauka jo mil sakta hai na usse bhi haath dho bethoge. Agar tum uski jagah hote aur bilkul tumhaare case ke tarah saare sabot uske khilaaf hote to tum kya karte? Maahir glared at Kuhu and replied,Kamsekam vo nehi karta jo usne kiya. Rohit suddenly pressed Kuhu's hand and signalled her through his eyes and she understood that he didn't want her to say anything to Maahir right now. Maahir looked at Rohitfor sometime and realized that he actually didn't think of that in the midst of all the mess he was in right then and Rohit, on seeing his face, felt relaxed thinking at last she was able to pull the right string and insert some senses into Maahir. After sometime Maahir said,Anu ne mera hamesha saath nibhaaya hai, main jaanta hu is baat ko bhi vo accept kar legi. Bela bhi spoilt rich brat thi, jaisa ke mujhe Kuhu ne bataya tha, but vo us har cheez se pyar karti thi jisse tum pyar karte the, vo tumhaare liye compromise bhi kar leti thi kyuki uske liye tum matter karte the, tumhaari khushi matter karti thi lekin Anu ke liye tum uske pyar se zyaada uski obsession ho, vo to tumhaari attention tak baat nehi sakti, tumhe kya baategi? I know ke usne tumhaara tab saath diya jab Bela nehi thi lekin vo Bulbul ke liye uski ma kabhi nehi banegi aur bane bhi kyu? Aur vo hi kyu Bulbul ko bhi kisi aur aurat ki zarurat kyu hogi jab uski khud ki ma hai zinda aur sahi salaamat aur agar tum usse uski ma ko alag karoge to kya pata aaj tumse vo pyar karti hai, kal is baat se vo tumse nafrat kare. Maahir looked tensed on hearing Rohit's words as he really didn't want Bulbul to hate him. Kuhu and Rohit exchanged their looks and smirked thinking that finally Maahir could be stopped from what he was thinking to do. He said,To main kya karu? Mujhe meri bachchi mere paas chahiye yaar! Kuhu emptied her glass of wine and said,Bas is moment ko enjoy karo, phone par apni beti ke saath time spend karo aur... sabse pehle ye socho ke Anu ko kaise bataana hai aur ek baat yaad rakhna ke tum abhi bhi hsaadishuda ho, Bela ke saath tumhaara divorce nehi hua hai, so legally tum vaise bhi Anu se shaadi kar nehi sakte ho Bulbul ki custody ke baare mein abhi to filhaal socho hi mat. By that time, dinner was served and Maahir was just looking at the food with a face and said,Ek aur baat maine to tum dono ko bataayi hi nehi, Bela ke papa uski shaadi karwaana chahte hai aur unhone uske liye larka bhi dekh liya hai. Rohit and Kuhu were shocked and both together asked,What?? Maahir nodded his head and replied,Yup!! Bulbul ne mujhe bataya aur usne ye bhi kaha ke vo ye shaadi hone hi degi. Kuhu had one bite of the food and then replied,Ok now that's a development!! Par kya tumne Bulbul ko bola ke tum bhi shaadi karne ja rahe ho? Maahir was just about to put a spoonful of food inside his mouth but he stopped on hearing about that and looked at Kuhu and Rohit. Kuhu chuckled and had a sip from her glass of wine and said,To ye sab bekaar ki baato ke baare mein sochna choro my dear brother aur practicality ki zameen par land karo. Pehle Bulbul ko ye sach batao aur phir dekho vo kaise react karti hai, uske baad jo kuch bhi karna hai uske baare mein sochte rehna. Kuhu winked at Rohit and he too gave a meaningful look to Maahir giving him new food for his thought which actually left him worried.
