Aaj ka episode is poora sharma family drama. I would suggest you not to watch. I too couldn't watch fully. Its probably a good episode but in a heart breaking way

Given the situation and Dev's personality / the way his character is etched, it would have looked odd if he had NOT taken his own sweet time.

After he agreed to marry Amba (I think it was the episode that came on Hotstar on Nov 17... 99 or 100th) - he felt suffocated, rips off his shirt and puts on the one Vidhi had given him just so that he can breathe. I think from that moment on, it had been a point of no return for him. That sheer helplessness he'd felt that day... he let his fears regarding their age-gap make the decision that day. He told himself he was doing the right thing for her.

But for him, it was trying to swallow a rock.

Not sure what he would have done had Satyavati not intervened that day. He got a reprieve and a solid reason to back off from Amba. Yet his fears still were still on the forefront so he kept telling Vidhi and HIMSELF that there is no future for them. Now, in the situation that Vidhi is in, he can't give in to his fears because that would mean leaving Vidhi alone to face the mud-slinging and her parents' wrath. So here he is - standing with her. ❤️

Now, I don't know what he has come to talk to her parents. It might be to say that he knows and accepts the reality and there's nothing between them etc. But it doesn't change the fact that Dev Raichand can't and won't sit still and stay silent when it comes to Vidhi Sharma. 👏

@pink- Thiss!! is so true! That scene was really something else.

By saying yes to Amba he was essentially shutting out all roads for Vidhi to be in his life. And that thought itself was so painful to him he just couldn't sit with his family and see them being happy when his life was literally burning away.

@bold- I might be wrong but I think he wouldn't have been able to go through the wedding. He would have eventually backed out. One could see his increasing restlessness with each passing day and his desperation to reach out to Vidhi as his engagement neared. And Amba's antics were adding fuel to the fire. He wasn't able to stand Amba in the same space as him. So he would have eventually reached a stage where he wouldn't be able to do this even for his family and backed off.
