Would it have worked the other way?

If it was the other way around? Like female lead be Mona Singh or Sakshi Tanwar etc and ML be someone younger and not much known... would it work?

There was a show "Kehta Hai Dil Jee Le Zara", where the female lead was older than male lead, but it was not this huge age gap.

I think I remember something.. some mid 30s woman falling for some guy.. I think I only saw the promo or maybe read only synopsis but... As you said the age gap was not that big.. Here.. the ML is near to the FL's father's age..

Which made me think.. would it have worked if.. FL was ML's mother's age?

and not just the story wise..

Iqbal Khan is in TV industry since early 2000s.. and have a nice fan following. The FL is comparatively new.

Would the same formula work with and established actress in early 2000's and a comparatively new

ML who does not have that much fan following?

There was another show with Suhasi Dhami and Karan Jodwani where FL had a teenager daughter, Aapke Aaja Ne Se. Don't know how successful it was though.

One more show having the same kind of storyline namely Kuch toh log kahenge starring Mohnish Behl and Kritika Kamra, it was also a mature love story, Male and female lead had huge age difference. I liked that show. Unique love story. Well, i have no issues with such stories. Age gap doesn't matter, if two people love each other. 😊

Though this discussion is of younger guy Older woman I just wanted to mention this Mal movie 'Vellimoonga' where the Male protagonist falls for and get married to the daughter of the woman he had a crush on during his school days!!

My teenager niece found it absurd, though her mom didn't mind it as much 😆

It was actually pretty successfulShow and the female lead had a teenage daughter too. So it can work but the female lead needs to really look very appealing. I sound superficial but yeah …

Totally agree.. It is the physical appearance of the leads that draws us to the show, especially initially. May be once hooked, we might not care too much for that. Isn't it same in real life too?

Anyways I remember I did skip through initial episodes coz of the concept, but didn't appeal to me the way it was handled.
