Wow. Never thought I'd say this for an NBT episode - but today was truly depressing. Honestly, I think it is the first time I used that adjective for this show - because through all the highs and the occasional lowest of lows NBT has hit - it's never really been, well, depressing.
My motivation to persist through this drag is inversely proportional to Megha's interest in hooking up Mohan with the Rash. I would say that they worked an iota tad better on the whole "foundation" of setting up Megha as a firm cupid wicket - but sadly, that only counters the vibe of the show itself.
Jiji's knowing smiles were fleeting, and again sadly, insufficient solace. I think what got to me the most about today's episode was this frustration with people NOT speaking up where they OUGHT to - and all the others blabbing to no accord. So the links I watched, didn't start the opening Mohan Mummy scene from the beginning and I may have missed something crucial - but WHY exactly was THE Mohan Bhatnagar NOT compelled to reveal facts to his mother? Why did Guru with all his reporting skills not blurt the facts? Why is Mummy being allowed to turn into this pyaar ki dushman shrieking shack to the extent that she takes it out on A MERE 8 YEAR OLD?! Seriously?! Are you FREAKING real CVs?! I might have still grit my teeth and sat through her outrage on Mohan and Megha being an item - given whatever W*F reasons are responsible to keep her in the dark - but that they show THIS kind of venting streak in her? She doesn't seem like the mother she started off being anymore - but then she hasn't, since the time she "greeted" Barbie with a hug and a smile. And again - why bother with Mummy's character going off - when THE Mrs. Vyas is becoming increasingly without fathom each day? Sigh.
Again RD, you've probably got it bang on about a beautiful MN scene sometime in the future - sooner or later - but honestly? That scene was SO blown out of proportion. Guru ko hi ni tha ke Nanhi ko hush away karde before cantankerous Mummy could unleash venom full on? That poor poor kid... Coming to Spiderman to fetch her "goodies" today of all days... *shakes head* Putting all my disappointment aside, I must credit Ashnoor for her heart wrenching performance in the later scene with Megha - especially the way she choked and hiccuped through "hum usse unhappy kaise kar sakte hain..." *snatches the kid into a BIG hug and glares down infuriated at the Mummy(s) of this show*
Another brief moment I liked - nope, not FIL's faith, because everytime he reasserts it, honestly, all I can feel is dread of the UBER melodramatic showdown - but I actually *miracle of all miracles* thought MIL made sense for a change. One of those rare times, when even her grouse sounds like something you can sympathize with, even if not endorse. Rare moments like these, when even in her harsh prejudice for Megha, there is a hint of unassuming real concern for the widow of his son - not for Megha - but for Mrs. Vyas. Which is selfish, but believable.
Anyway - overall, a very very sad opening to the week. Somewhere NBT's doing exactly what all the other shows do. Hit such an EPIC low on the vibe and mood - that in terms of rebound - if and when that happens - there are going to be no expectations to meet really, and for months to come for a while, they can exist just fine, in mediocrity. Which is sad. Like really sad - for something of such promise.
Aah, well.
ps: Thanks for the WU RD 🤗 True, you really are stuck doing these updates, aren't you?! I can only imagine what writing more or less neutrally for such days is like...
