More than a bad wife she was a matlabi wife and daughter-in-law. Gajendar was originally somewhat bullied by her. I think things changed when she had her friends over and then went to visit her family.
She stuck by him even when he was accused of murder. I think she is a character who is being shown as a foolish, power hungry girl who could get her husband to dance to her tune and as the only wife to have given Ammaji a grandson felt it was her right to be the favoured bahu!!!
In the end - all she got was in today's episode. One has to feel sad for her and I must admit she did act well.
