"Hain ek color ke tera patte, lekin in mein bas ek king.
Ace bhi hum hain, base bhi hum hain, aur jigar mein hain daring.
Hum, hum kare dil ki jo marzi, karte karte bas hadh kar di,
Dil agar sacha ho rab sab karde setting....
Singh is King, Singh is King, Singh is King......."
Replace Singh with Wazir, Khalil, etc., it becomes a song about a Pathan/Pukhtun. Replace it with a Patel, it becomes about a Gujarati. Please tell me what in this song is so significant to a Punjabi?
well i would agree with you that there is nothing in disliking the song which is against punjabis. but saying the song is stupid and disliking it...there is a difference, at least for me. well everyone has their own opinions regarding everything and i didn't think the song was stupid and sorry, but i don't think the comment was unnecessary. Isn't this site made for people to voice out their opinions?? anyway, back to you question with what in this song is so significant. you've just picked out a few sentences from the song and look at these few lines:
Singh surmaie, rakh de ne aan,
Agar lorh payi te de denge jaan,
Raje maharaje vi kar desi maan,
Rakhde si pag unchi, bande di shaan..
Jo singha ne kithiyan kurbaaniyan ne,
Who duniya pe chad gayi nishaniyan ne,
Duniya de ban gaye singh badshah,
Par sabto uncha, oh sacha badshah..
these above lines hold the most significance since for years we've witnessed punjabis being made fun of in the movies and this movie was made to show the world of their strengths and what they've given the nation. the movie as well as the song was made to convince the sardars to uphold their culture and tradition. now a days people aren't as devoted to the culture and take wrong paths and through this movie and song, they try to send a message to the community to uphold their culture and traditions and to be proud of it. and coming to your speculation that the song can be over anyone, well if it was over a hindu or even someone significant, yes the song would still be significant for them and i am pretty sure that a comment like "stupid song" would anger some people out there!
