Himesh Reshammiya has been missing from action since the last six months. And he is trying hard to make up for it. What better way to gift his music to his ever-increasing list of fans! At the initial of the year he arrived with 'Red' and 'Afreen' is on its way to become a household name. Coming next to perk up your Republic Day celebrations is the soundtrack of 'Namastey London'. The soundtracks will be hitting the stands on 27th January. What makes the album ideal for Republic Day is its patriotic zeal, the underlying message of the film. The film conveys the power of India, Indians and their heritage. The story is about a Punjabi simpleton (Akshay Kumar) who goes to London to woo his wife (Katrina Kaif) who is born and bred there. Rishi Kapoor, Upen Patel and Jawed Shaikh are also in pivotal role in the film.

Himesh Reshammiya is doing the music of the film and the lyrics are by Javed Akhtar. This is for the first time they're associating for the music. Three songs from the film 'Jingle Balle', 'Chankan Chakna' and 'Virane' have the promos already on the air along with two remixes. Directed by Vipul Shah this much-awaited flick arrives at the theatres on March 09.

Audio Review : Red - Himesh turns out to be a disappointment

Producer: Sameer Srivastava, Sunil Chainani
Director: Vikram Bhatt
Cast: Aftab Shivdasani, Amrita Arora, Celina Jaitley, Sushant Singh
Music: Himesh Reshammiya
Singers: Harshdeep, Himesh Reshammiya, Jayesh Gandhi, Akriti Kakar

Himesh Reshammiya who went to a hibernation for the last six months is back again with this new offing. 'Red' is his new project, a film by director Vikram Bhatt starring Aftab Shivdasani, Celina Jaitley and Amrita Arora. Himesh was very successful with his music at the beginning of last year and with this album arriving at the first month of the year, one if hopeful to hear some amazing stuff once again. With lyricist Sameer at the helm we are looking forward to get tuned to some hit music once again. The singer/composer gets on the double task of composing as well as singing. He has sung seven out of nine tracks for the album including remix.

'Red' looks like a passionate love story and thus the first song for the album 'Afreen Tera Chehra' seems to be a right beginning for this. The music has a much desired appeal and the song hooks on you from the first listening itself. His rendition lapped with Sameer's lyrics works fine. This is a catchy love song that serves its purpose and you're gonna tune to it again and again. Even the remix version seems like a hot affair.

The passion and love continues for the next track as well. 'Aamin' expresses never ending love and desire. Reshammiya gets back to the grove of sufi music with the rhythm of tabla dominating throughout. The composition is not the kind that would enthuse you and so without much expectation you play the remix of the track. This is vintage Himesh kind and you would prefer it if you're a great fan of such songs.

On the track of love is 'Ek Tum Hi' but it is quite different from the former two which talked about acquiring one's love in the sense that it challenges the feeling of falling in love with that particular person. The track is laced with sufi base and has Jayesh Gandhi crooning it away. It is a situational track and very insipid to garner ant interest. There is also a remix version accompanying this number as well.

Himesh and Harshdeep formerly heard in a few Bollywood tracks begin the number 'Dil Ne Yeh Na Jaana'. It is a sad number showing the dark side of love, the pain that inflicts due to love. There is minimal background instrument in the track that moves in slow pace. The singers do their job with aplomb as Sameer's lyrics flows. A situational number that is quite pleasant hearing.

'Loneliness Is Killing Everyone' is the last track with Himesh leading the mike and Akriti Kakkar being giving background vocals. There is a remix version of the song as well. Himesh confides his feeling about loneliness in this track. Another situational track in the offering.

With high prospect expected from this Reshammiya soundtrack at the beginning of the year, one is rather disappointed with what we get to hear. Coming from him after six months break this is not the kind of stuff one would have wanted to listen. Other than 'Afreen' none of the other songs are outstanding. Himesh turns out to be a disappointment here.
