1) I never said ALL are copied. I meant that originality has become a rarity these days.

2) I never said we dont have any talent, so kindly avoid taking my statement out of its original context.

3) I disagree - many of the popular songs ARE copied. For example: Pritam's Gangster is a complete rip-off Album. I just found out and I'm not too happy about it.

Jem, I'm not talking about inspirations or songs which are "copied" unknowingly.

I'm talking about blatant copies where there are NO variations at all by the copy-cat.

Will just give examples of these so-called Arabic "inspirations" (read: direct lifts)

1) Shikdhum (Dhoom - Pritam) --- Sikidim (Tarkan)

2) Dil Samundar (Garam Masala - Pritam) --- Kuzu Kuzu (Tarkan)

3) Ya Ali (Gangster - Pritam) --- Ya Ghali (Guitara)

4) Suniye To (Yes Boss - Jatin Lalit) --- Ahla ma feki (Hisham Abbas)

5) Chak de (Hum Tum - JL) --- 'Yalla ya shabab' by Ragheb Alama

6) Yaara Yaara (hum tum)/Chanda Chamke (Fanaa) --- 'al-Samra Wil Beyda' (Miami Group)

These were JUST Arabic btw, and JUST 2 composers. There is a much longer list available.

Plus, difficulty in composing does not imply that one should knowingly plagiarize.

Hmmmm theek hai - adding one more to the list "Chhore Ki Baatein" From Fight Club - original song is by Ali Zafar - thankfully Pritam gave him credit for this 😛

Hum first of all its a very hot topic for dicussion...Thanks to Evilgenius for starting this topic.

Personally I prefer original tracks..but I feel quality of Remix depends on the quality of the remixer.A talented remixer can make even a ordinary original track a chart blaster..on the other hand an ordinary remixer can make a original golden track a pathetic one..However we cannot deny that the remix songs have its own class of audience and is very popular among them.

Now about copying songs..what is actually plagriasm.I am agreed with Jem

See there are only 7 note in the sargam.Sa,Re, Ga, Ma,Pa,Dha, Ni...all the tracks are basically based on permutaion and combination of this 7 basic notes only...so some tracks may seems familiar...but its not plagriasm.Again if someone gets attracted to some tracks, gets inspired his future tracks may be somewhat similar to that tracks..its again is not plagriasm,but obviously is someone adopts a tracks with its each and every note....then obviously its a plagriasm.
