Hello Mc'ians,

It's now time to grill BELLE1989 who plays Cello and Piano!

Discussion/questions:

How long have you been practicing/playing the Piano?! Cello?!

What/who was your motivation and inspiration to learn the Piano and Cello?! Do any other family members play?!

Please describe/explain to us the major parts of the Piano and Cello!

In terms of playing, to what other instrument is the Piano and Cello closest?!

Who, if any, is your favorite Pianist?! Cellonist?! (If that's the right word!) Why is he/she/they your favorite?!

Where in your house do you keep your Piano and Cello?!

When and where do you find it most relaxing/soothing to play the Piano?! Cello?!

When you are playing either, describe your emotions at that moment (how does it make you feel)?!

If you were given a chance to portray your talent at an event, to which song/musical would you play for each instrument?! Why?!

Is there any other instrument that you would like to learn how to play?! If so, which one(s)?!

What does "Piano" and "Cello"mean?! (If you know)!

congrats!!

here are my questions:

while learning to play any of the instruments, did u ever feel frustrated
and feel like you wanted to give up?

if u did feel that way, what made u continue despite the frustration?

can u play any indian songs on the piano?

if u can, did u learn them by ear or do u need the score?

can u play a song just by listening to it? (on the piano or cello)

is it easier to play the cello or the piano?

that's all for now! 😃

I have started playing the piano since I was 9 years old, so about 8 years ago. I started playing the cello in Grade 9 when I was 14 just for a year for Music class at school.

What/who was your motivation and inspiration to learn the Piano and Cello?! Do any other family members play?!

I really loved the sounds that a piano made and I thought of trying it out - what have I got to lose? I was assigned to play the cello by my teacher and I really grew to love it. My sister plays the piano and the clarinet. My mother really inspired me and motivated me into continuing my piano studies.

Please describe/explain to us the major parts of the Piano and Cello!

Well in the Piano, there are two keys - black and white. Black is for sharps and flats and the white keys are the regular notes. For the cello, I don't quite remember since I played it 4 years ago and only for a year, but I think it has 5 long strings.

In terms of playing, to what other instrument is the Piano and Cello closest?!

Piano is closest to I believe the harmonium and the cello is closest to the viola.

Who, if any, is your favorite Pianist?! Cellonist?! (If that's the right word!) Why is he/she/they your favorite?!

Favourite pianist is Chopin; Celloist is Yoyo Ma.

Where in your house do you keep your Piano and Cello?!

Well, as of now, I don't own a grand piano. I practice by using the keyboard at home. I also don't own a cello. But I do remember that I borrowed the cello from school to practice at home. Believe me, it wasn't a good bus ride! 😛

When and where do you find it most relaxing/soothing to play the Piano?! Cello?!

I like to play the piano at my music school and the cello at the music room at school.

When you are playing either, describe your emotions at that moment (how does it make you feel)?!

Cello makes me soo much more relaxed than the piano. I get really stiff when I play the piano. For the cello, you have to be stiff and rigid.

If you were given a chance to portray your talent at an event, to which song/musical would you play for each instrument?! Why?!

Umm...for the piano, I would play Fur Elise and the cello- Forest Gump.

Is there any other instrument that you would like to learn how to play?! If so, which one(s)?!

Yes, I would love to play the guitar.

What does "Piano" and "Cello"mean?! (If you know)!

I don't know what they mean. 😳

and feel like you wanted to give up? Yes, whenever I had to practice for my grade exams for Piano. I really felt like giving up.

if u did feel that way, what made u continue despite the frustration? I guess because I was soo close to finishing a grade that I did not want to give up at the last minute.

can u play any indian songs on the piano? Nope. 😳

if u can, did u learn them by ear or do u need the score? I need the score - definitely!

can u play a song just by listening to it? (on the piano or cello) Not really. But I can try..😊

is it easier to play the cello or the piano? For me, the cello is the easiest to play between them.

that's all for now! 😃 Thanks SB! You take care.

hello belle, and congrats. my questions for you (please take them with a pinch of salt!! 😃 )

1. if the piano had strings and the cello had keys (like the accordian) would you able to strum the piano and play the cello together?? 😃

2. which is your favourite piece to play on the piano? and why?

3. shakespeare said "if music be the food of love, play on give me excess of it, that it may surfiet and so die..." how would you interpret it. what meaning would such a statement have in you and why?? 😃 (it only sounds high funda, it really is not 😆 😆 )

4. when you listen to music on the radio, you hear a lot of noises...do you think it is caused by the birds sitting on the wires and listening to the beat of the music through their feet, and dancing to its tune???? 😃

have fun answering these, and i shall come back again with more!!! 😃 cheers!!
