Bad girls have all the fun!
MTV Roadies 4 finalist, Bani flagged off this season while Shambhavi of Roadies 5.0 got the headlines. Bryan Durham talks to the two
GURBANI JUDGE AKA BANI
She lost out to 'good friend' Anthony Yeh in the Roadies 4 finale, but went the distance. Is now a VJ with MTV. Hosts youth show, Whassup!
Where have you been all this time? The last time we saw you, was in a Reebok ad. Where were you after Roadies 4?
I was working undercover for MTV as a spy (laughs). After Roadies, I did a modelling assignment for Raghu's sister. And then I did a movie of hers. Then I was out of the country for a one-two months. Then I came back, then I got the Reebok thing. Then after that, I was doing a lot of stuff for MTV, a lot of shoots... Of MTV, for MTV, basically.
Back then, everybody on and off the show hated you. The charges are that you put on a show, that you played to the gallery. You had nothing to lose. You already had several offers before the show ended. And didn't really care if you won. Guilty or not?
I wouldn't actually even know that. When I was in Roadies, I didn't really care... I just wanted to get off the show. It was a horrible experience. But then, as people kept getting less and less, I actually started to enjoy it. Because most of the pissing-off people were leaving before I left and then you got more used to it. You got to be mentally prepared that you're going to get kicked out the next weekend. And about the offers... you didn't have a phone... you're secluded... you're riding bikes all day long, it's all about the tasks... it's it's own little bubble, you know, on Roadies... it's just you, how you can survive with these people and you just try and get through the day. It's not like we had any communication with the outside world
Do you have a blog?
No, I don't. Too afraid of critics.
You took up Aap Kaa Suroor...
I mean why not, man... Himesh Reshammiya...!
You were last year's bad girl. Revelled or despised that image?
Was I? really? Well, I didn't hate it, I didn't love it. It is what it is, you know. I am what I am. At the end of the day, I am sitting at home ccoking my paneer ki bhurji and roti and eating it with my family and it's not like I am sorry, yaar. I do jobs. I just hold my image as what it is. People do watch TV, so they do look up to you. I'm held in high esteem because I'm a youth TV icon and ask people not to do drinking and driving and crashing and all this bullshit so...
This year, Roadies just got turned on its head...
B: It had crazy things other people would even think of or be expecting. They put effort into it, like every year, but this year it was exceptional. That's the whole point of it. Every year you're supposed to get bigger and better and badder and that's what he's been saying about it.
The Roadies 5.0 grand finale airs tonight at 7 pm
SHAMBHAVI SHARMA
She's on the sets of Ekta Kapoor's film, Little Godfather everyday but refuses to talk about the film because she says she isn't allowed to. So we talk about the show instead.
Despite being one of the youngest competitors on the show, you've been one of the game's biggest players. Where does all that strategy come from?
It wasn't planned. I kept observing them. Then I figured I'd have to get along with the boys because I needed their votes and with some of the girls because I needed their votes too.
Your strongest competitors?
In boys, Vikrant. In girls, Prabhjot.
The place(s) you liked the most?
Pondicherry and Goa.
Anyone else you hated on the show (besides Nihal, of course)?
Ankita Bajaj.
How did Prabhjot and you patch up so quickly? In an episode before your elimination, you'll got into a scrap. Next thing, we know you're hugging each other. What's the story there?
It was only that people were manipulating us. The moment these people left, and there were very few people left, I saw her for the person she was and we became good friends.
You're this year's bad girl on Roadies? Revil in or despise that image?
You don't want it to be controversial. It just happens. I didn't expect it. I never thought it would go so far.
cheers
