CHAPTER – 3

Few more days passed by.Muskaan slowly got addicted to Nupur.For each and every things,she needed Nupur.Nupur too was habituated to her.Every night while going to sleep and every morning while waking up,she had to see Muskaan's face.Bathing her,dressing her,feeding her everything became her primary duty.Mayank too was accustomed to Muskaan.Earlier whatever Nupur needed,she used to bring it herself.Now because of Muskaan,Mayank had to remember to bring her chocolates and toys.Nupur didn't like Muskaan's addiction towards chocolates.She always warned Mayank,but sometimes,ignoring her anger,he used to bring them for Muskaan.Both Mayank and Muskaan secretly used to eat chocolates hiding them from Nupur.

One day,Muskaan was watching TV alongwith Mayank.There was a scene in the show where a father and mother was pampering their baby.Muskaan gave a smile on seeing it.Mayank switched the channel to a sports channel.Muskaan cried and started beating on Mayank's hand.He asked,"Kya hua ye channel nehi dekhna?"Muskaan angrily nodded her head.Mayank switched the previous channel and Muskaan again became very happy.In the scene,the mother was singing a lorie for the child and the father was playing with the child.The scene seemed to be familiar to Muskaan since Nupur and Mayank used to do the same thing for her.The baby of the show,called its mother,'Mamma!'Muskaan heard the word very carefully.She ran to Nupur and pulled her by her hand and brought her into the hall.Nupur asked,"Kya hua Muskaan beta,kyu bulaaya?"Muskaan made her sit on the sofa and ran towards the TV.She pointed towards the woman in the TV but Nupur and Mayank didn't understand her meaning.Muskaan came running towards Nupur and then pointed towards Nupur.For the first time,she uttered something which apparently changed Nupur's life.Muskaan,pointing towards Nupur and with a sweet smile uttered,"Mmm-mma!"Nupur's heart made a loud bump.She exchanged her looks with Mayank.Muskaan again ran towards the TV and again pointed towards the woman in the screen and uttered,"Mamm-mma!"Again she ran and returned to Nupur and then took Nupur's hand and placed it on her cheeks and uttered,"Mamm-mma!"The motherhood which was buried deep inside her heart,with her miscarriage started evolving out.Her motherly emotions became alive.She held Muskaan's arms and with teary,voice asked,"Kya bola…?Phir…phir se bolo…?"Muskaan now clearly uttered,"Mamma!"Nupur pulled her in her arms and then pampered her a lot.She rained kisses on her face and then said,"Ha…ha main hi teri mamma hu.Tu sirf meri beti hai."Muskaan wiped her tears and then kissed on her cheeks and then uttered,"Mamma!"Mayank too had tears in his eyes seeing Nupur's happiness.

Now Nupur started treating Muskaan as her own dead daughter.She always said to Mayank that God had sent her dead daughter back to them.Nupur then started teaching her to call Mayank 'Papa!'But it was a bit difficult for her to pronounce.Nupur slowly became too much possessive for her.She never allowed Muskaan to go out of her sight.She panicked too much and becomes totally mad if she didn't see her nearby.Nupur was so much obsessed that she didn't allow Muskaan to come down of her lap.

One day,Mayank was working late night and Nupur while patting Muskaan to sleep,slept herself,but Muskaan didn't sleep.She looked on Mayank's side and found it was empty.Muskaan got up and climbed down of the bed.She went to Mayank's study where he was very busy with his laptop.Muskaan went to him and knocked on his hand.On seeing Muskaan,by his side,Mayank was surprised.Muskaan put her head on the palm of her hand and closed her eyes.Mayank said,"Ha beta chalta hu thora aur kaam khatam karlu uske baad.Tum abhi tak soyi nehi?"Muskaan nodded her head and pulled his hand.Mayank kept on saying one minute more.Suddenly,Muskaan,making a baby face pulled his hand and uttered,"Ppa-ppa!"Mayank looked at her with a jerk.He asked,"Kya kaha?"She made a puppy face and replied,"Ppappa!"At that moment both heard Nupur's voice.She was searching for Muskaan all over the house.When she reached Mayank's study,she found both of them together.On seeing Muskaan,she picked her up in her arms and asked,"Kaha chali gayi thi?Kaha tha na mamma ko bina bole kahi mat jaana?Pata hai mamma kitna pareshaan ho gayi thi aur phir har jagah par tumhe dhundh rahi thi?"Just then her eyes fall on Mayank who was staring at Muskaan.Nupur asked,"Kya hua Mayank aise kya dekh rahe ho uske taraf?"Mayank,bewildered with happiness said,"Nupur…Nupur…Isne mujhe…Muskaan ne mujhe…papa bola."Nupur started at Mayank for a few seconds and then said,"Sach mein???Muskaan bolo beta 'papa' bolo."Muskaan with a smile uttered,"Ppappa!"Mayank kissed on Muskaan's forehead and said,"Pata hai Nupur aaj mujhe lag raha hai jaise mera parivaar pura ho gaya hai.Aaj bhagwaan ne hume sab de diya hai."Nupur nodded her head.Nupur and Mayank hugged with Muskaan in the middle.

Muskaan slowly slowly learnt a few words by listening but of course she used her own version of speaking it.One day,Mayank promised to take Nupur and Muskaan to dinner,which he forgot and came late from office.Nupur got ready and was waiting for Mayank.As time passed by,she was gradually getting angry on him.Mayank rang the calling bell.Muskaan uttered,"Mamma!Papa!"Nupur replied,"Ha jaanti hu tumhaare papa aaye hai par main darwaaza nehi kholungi.Main unse bohot bohot bohot zyaada gussa hu.Ye bhi koi baat hui?Promise kiya tha ke aaj dinner par le chalenge aur phir bhul gaye."Muskaan didn't understand everything but understood one thing that Nupur was very angry.Muskaan got down from the bed and ran to the hall.She pulled a chair upto the door and climbed up on it and opened the door.When Mayank opened the door,Muskaan opened her hands asking him to pick her up in his arms.When Mayank picked up Muskaan,he kissed on her cheeks and asked,"Kaisa hai mera bachcha?Aaj ka din kaisa gaya meri gudiya ka?"Muskaan made an angry face and said,"Papa!Mamma!"She then angrily folded her arms.Mayank asked,"Mamma gussa hai?Kispar?"She uttered,"Papa!"Mayank asked,"Mamma papa se gussa hai?"She nodded her head.At that moment,Mayank remembered that he had promised Nupur and Muskaan to take them to dinner.He slapped on his head and said,"Iam so sorry beta.Main bilkul bhul gaya.Chalo chalkar mamma ko manaate hai."Both went to Nupur.

Nupur on seeing Mayank,turned away her face.He put Muskaan on the bed and held his ears and said,"Iam sorry galti ho gayi."Nupur replied,"Mujhe tumse koi baat nehi karni hai Mayank.Jaao yaha se."Muskaan made a puppy face and said,"Mamma!"and then pointed towards Mayank.Nupur angrily said,"Muskaan bilkul apne papa ki side nehi logi varna mamma tumse kabhi baat nehi karegi."Muskaan got scared and immediately sat on Nupur's lap.Mayank said,"Achcha galti ho gayi na,mujhe aane mein thori der ho gayi hai.Chalo abhi chalte hai na.Main Muskaan ko abhi tayyar kar deta hu."He opened the wardrobe and took out Muskaan's favourate green frock.Mayank dressed her up and tied her hairs on both sides in a pony tail manner and also put her favourate Cinderella clips.Mayank then made her wear her favouarate horn shoes,which made sounds like horn when she walked.Muskaan excitedly went to Nupur and called,"Mamma!"and posed in front of her and by raising her brows she asked Nupur how she was looking.Nupur gave a smile to Muskaan and then said,"Meri raajkumari to hamesha hi sabse zyaada khubsurat lagti hai par hum kahi nehi ja rahe hai."Mayank asked,"Kyu?"Nupur replied,"Kyu ka kya matlab hua?Tumhaari jab marzi hogi tum aaoge aur hum muh utha kar chal denge kya?Tumhe pata hai Muskaan shaam se tumhaara wait kar rahi hai aur bas 'papa','papa','papa' ki ratt lagaaye huye hai."Mayank said,"Main jaanta hu tabhi to keh raha hu chalo aur agar ab tum nehi chalogi na to Muskaan bhi bura maan jaayegi.Dekho apni favourate frock pehenkar kitni khush hai."Nupur looked at Muskaan and found that her face was glowing with happiness.She felt pity for her and then agreed to go.She said,"Sirf Muskaan ke liye chal rahi hu."Mayank nodded his head and Muskaan clapped with happiness.

Muskaan opened the door for Mayank.. Kholti bhi kyun nahi, apni papa ko wo thodi na bahar rakh sakti hain...

Muskaan wanted to take her Papa's side but Mamma ki dar se chup ho gayi.. Ye Jhansi ki Rani ki samne kissie ka bhi chalti hain kya...

Awww...Mayank ne Muskaan ko ready kiya, that is so sweet of him..

Ya, aab Sharma family puri ho gayi hain..
