The courtyard of the five-star hotel was decorated all over in red and white... Right from the dance floor, the curtains, fairy lights, tables for the guests and the flowers; everything was perfectly adorned with this two colours... Samrat was standing in one of the gazebos which were in the four corners of the lawn; a little far from the stage, watching all the lovely couples dancing in rhythm to a slow romantic tune... Some of them were newly wedded; exchanging gifts and promises and receiving all the good wishes from the other guests... They were smiling; they were destined to be together and today their love had tied them in an eternal bond...
While his eyes were stuck on the present occasion, his mind travelled along in the past to a very similar night where these two colours were flourishing all over the place where they were standing... Red is his favourite colour and white was her... But hardly had he known then that those two colours would merge together one day in their lives... Hardly had he known then that a girl with all her simplicity, innocence and warmth will make his world a better and peaceful place to live in... And hardly had he known then that someday might come when he will be deprived from his sanity when she would walk away from him... And he will be left all alone...
A lone drop of tear rolled down from his eyes as he rested himself against a pillar and stared toward the sky... Why this has to happen with them, with him?? The thoughts of another night from the past haunted him; the night when she had walked away... Not just from him, also from her family, friends and everyone that she knew and loved... Samrat for the first time had realised then that a life without her would mean nothing but hell... That very night he had promised to himself and to her that no matter what may come, he will be there for her... That he want to spend his entire life with her, he will hold on to her and never let her go... That night his love was strong enough to bring her back... But who knew that destiny had something else in mind...
"Happy Valentine's Day Chashmish"...
Every single droplet now gathered together to blur his vision and forced him to shut his eyes in despair... Every image which stirred his mind made him unaware of the presence of a pair of eyes in solitude that has been following his every expressions of desolation... She herself was now a broken heart, a lost and shattered soul, alone and longed to be in the warm embrace of that one person she love and dreamt to be with... She exactly knew what he was thinking; her desperation and helplessness being the same... Fate had made their love fall apart... But tonight she desperately wanted to let go off all her helplessness, drop all the barriers, erase all the past memories and run to him... Tonight just for once she wished she could go back to that very special night of ecstasy when their friendship had rekindled...
But how much did she tried, the harsh reality of her life had always forced her to come back to the present... How much had she tried, she could never forget him, nor can she forgive... And all she could do then was to walk away, before it gets too late; before she becomes week once again...
"Happy Valentine's Day Samrat"... Gunjan wished him in a tearful whisper...
The gentle breeze of the spring touched his face, a pleasant fragrance of the night soothed his heart; giving him tranquil feelings of her presence somewhere very near... His trance was broken and his eyes wide opened in a shot... What was that feeling all about, Samrat wondered??... His Chashmish, His Angel... Was she really there?? His eyes wandered all around in the hope of catching a glimpse of that one angelic face, his heart raced in anticipation... He paced everywhere in the compound; but all in vain, she was nowhere... All his hopes washed away, all those feelings were nothing but an illusion... Reality was something else; that she will never come back to him...
'Samrat', a voice from behind made him had a grip over his emotions and turn around to face the person...
'The receptionist gave me this', Benji handed him a little flower bouquet... 'A girl with specs has left it there for you, she said'...
A colourful bouquet of Rainbow Roses shined brightly in his hand while a little card peeped out of it to convey a warm and simple Valentine's wish for Samrat...
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY...
