Haunts from the past: Part I

"Gunjan, how could you even think that I would marry you? I mean you and me?! Come on! You are not my type, got it? So get lost!" ' These words haunted Gunjan in her dreams. She squeezed her eyes and gripped the bed sheet and trying her best to get the thoughts of his past out of her mind but it seemed like she couldn't get out of those horrible memories. She took heavy breaths as her past was making her sick. Suddenly, she jumped up in shock and felt short of breath. Quickly, she took the asthma pump which was kept on the side table and made her feel better with it. After that, she took a deep breath and got up from her bed. Wearing her sandals, she went to the washroom and stood in front of the mirror. She stared at herself for a long time. A memory from her past came in her mind and she had a flashback of the moment when they get closed to each other for the first time. She stared at herself through the mirror in anger and frustration. She turned on the shower and stood under it and tried her best to make herself pure and clean. She wanted to remove the feeling of Rahul's touch within herself. At last, she screamed out in frustration and anger, "Why don't you go out of my mind, Rahul? Just get lost from my thoughts. I don't want to remember you. Please go away. Just leave me alone. LEAVE ME ALONE!"

Saying these words, she fell on the floor and cried her heart out. "I can't tolerate it anymore. I CAN'T!"

Jane kyon, har lamha hai tham gaya

Gunjan kept crying and letting all her sorrow and frustration out. She was trying like hell to get out of her past but it kept haunting her like anything.

She had the flashbacks again of the moments she spend with Rahul. How could she let him getting so close to her? That was making her hate herself even more!

She walked out of the washroom numbly. Her face was emotionless and she walked toward her cupboard as if she was a living dead. "I can't live here. I shall go back to India." Thinking of India, a slight smile curved on her face. "I hope my past will leave me alone after I go to India. I hope that I'll be able to start a life afresh there. I just need some peace and I am feeling like I'll get that in India in between my own people."

"Priya! Sent Samrat inside.", said Gayatri in an ordering tone.

"Ma'am, Samrat Sir hasn't arrived yet.", said Priya.

Gayatri shockingly said, "What? Umm.. Okay! Inform me when he will come."

"Yes Ma'am!", said Priya.

Gayatri thought in confusion and concernedly, "Everyday he comes on time and today he's an hour late. I hope he's okay."

Thinking that, she tried to call Samrat but Samrat didn't respond.

"Where is Samrat?", wondered Gayatri.

**Scene Shifts**

Samrat was sitting on a rock near the shore. He threw stones one after one. Deep in thoughts, he stared at the sea and remembered about Sheena, the girl he loved crazily and she dumped him. "Why the hell are you still in my thoughts, Sheena? Please just get out of my thoughts. JUST GO!"

"I can't marry you, Samrat. I can't marry you." ' These words haunted him once again. "DAMN! GET OUT OF MY THOUGHTS, SHEENA! GO AWAY!", screamed Samrat in anger and sorrow. He stood up and started walking near the shore with a hope to find some peace in the beauty of the nature. The wind was blowing lightly. He loved feeling the wind. He stretched out his hands and closed his eyes and felt the wind. A strange smile curved on his face. He made himself lost in the serenity of the nature and tried his best to forget all his sorrows ' at least for a while. For a second, or even for a moment, he wanted to smile and to be happy. He opened his eyes slowly and again the same words sounded like echo in his mind. He shut off his eyes with his palms and screamed out, "SHUT UP! JUST SHUT UP! GOD DAMN IT! LEAVE ME ALONE!" He punched on the rock for which his hand was bleeding. But he didn't care. He kept walking and walking without knowing what his destination was.

Gunjan was sitting inside the plane beside the window. She stared at the clouds outside and sarcastically smiled at her condition and said, "There was a time when I used to be scared of travelling by air. But now, nothing matters! Nothing at all matters. After such a suffering, Gunjan Bhushan has become strong. In a way, I guess, everything happened for good. At least, it has made me strong."

Saying all these, she again stared outside the clouds and bravely faced with her fear.

Bas khushi ki talaash mein main toh yunhi chalta raha
Jaane na dheere dheere yun chalte chalte main kahan aa gaya
Dekhenge mera rasta gham bhi kahin yeh socha na tha
Maine inn raaston se mazaak raasta poocha na tha

Tears streamed from her eyes but she didn't let those make her weak. She instantly wiped out her tears and said, "Now I won't be weak! I will be strong. Please God, help me in this."
