@ red - yes aashi - it has always been lucky for sajan to have white - i hope sam wears it too in the engagement 😳 - we are abt to see that on monday now - after all white is their color - Sam wore it even in zindagi do pal ki☺️

Again...an old post of mine on Gina's post but highlights the 'stupidity of separation over togetherness...

the truth of loneliness.

Gunjan had the support of her family and admiration of her teachers but no warmth of friends. Samrat had the support of his friends and admiration of his peers but no warmth of family. They both had the tenderness of close company but yet an emptiness remained apparent upon both their faces despite efforts in masking the truth. They were alone. Their souls incomplete. Their hearts yearning for kindred spirits.

When Gunjan and Samrat met, that yearning changed to expectation and then the metamorphosis into ehsaas that indeed their souls were finally whole.

The flower Samrat gives Gunjan at the talent parade symbolising their blossoming friendship. In Gunjan's acceptance lies their combined wholesomeness. Both their souls finally at rest and their hearts unite in pure perfection.

When you mix two colours you can never separate them to their original tones; no matter how precisely you divide both will be tainted, tinged and leave behind a part of themselves imparted upon the other. You cannot go return to what was before, neither can you progress forth. The union is irreversible.

When Gunjan finds out the truth about the bet she is thrust back into the emptiness of loneliness. However her previous world seems colder now as she has tasted the kindling of completeness.

When Samrat realises that Gunjan has severed all ties of acquaintance he is thrown back into the false furore of companions. However it provides no amusement now as he had felt the intensity of togetherness.

The scenes I chose for this post are those of Gunjan's and Samrat's realisations of the fact that they were alone, before they had met the other, and now the understanding that they must return to the coldness of that world having known the pleasure of kindred companionship.

I love MJHT directors showed these scenes. Firstly with Gunjan, alone in her racing thoughts, with all those unknown unknowns rushing past her. She was catapulted back into being alone in a crowd of nonchalance. Then the dissolution of the friendship they show a medley of clips in reverse, signifying a return to previous separate and lonely states. Then Samrat, alone in his confusion, with all his closest friends in disturbance milling around him. He was feeling the sting of losing his first game.

That haunting line from Gunjan's song… "Bheed mein bhi, kyun lage ki, hum hai akele yahan"

Gunjan rushes to the loo to be physically alone, as she had once become inured. She talks to herself in the mirror. Who knows her better than herself? Samrat searches for darkness to drown himself in to symbolize his soul's emotional detachment. He questions Benji for the truth. Who knows him better than his friends? They both ponder over that scene from Diwali. Gunjan viewing this time with Samrat as the false player. Samrat viewing this time with Gunjan in his true nature.

Then for the first time Samrat sees himself in the mirror, through the eyes of Gunjan…

…stripped of all his friends he realizes that his whole life he was alone, but now after Gunjan had come into his life, without her he would truly be lonely.

During the Radio Contest Gunjan sees herself in the limelight, through the eyes of others, her special friend…

…stripped of her sister's support she realises that her whole life she was incomplete, but now after Samrat had come into her life, he had brought that missing piece.

Samrat confesses his realisation that Gunjan is his kindred heart to Nupur. Gunjan confesses her realisation that Samrat is her kindred heart to Purab. Gunjan finds him again in that darkness, but standing in the moonlight, trying to feel that tenderness of beauty he once was blessed with.

They shake hands, irrepressible smiles across their faces; loneliness vanquished they were once again whole.
