hey friends....
as it is evident most of us are critical of the current track particularly because of the character deviation or assasination or whatever u may call of some of the characters!! also many have said anything else is bearable but not the change in character traits..!!!
that put me into thought... i was just wondering could the current baby track have been equally effective and equally funny if the characters behaved as they were.... or else i may also go to the extent of saying would the current track have been possible in the first place if the characters behaved and took decisions as they used to???

my answer to these questions would beYES....!!!
this track could have been equally funny even if the characters behaved their own self just by adding or changing some of the dialogues..!!
i ll take an example here.... that of the most popular and most disappointing character deviation of MAYANK.....

now lets consider the situation when they find the baby that night on the road.....!!!
what would mayank have done if he was the original one we are all talking about...

he would have first stopped everyone from talking and thinking nonsense...and said something like--"guys..aisa koi problem nahi jiska solution humare paas na ho!!"

then he would have thought for a while and said --"i think humein iss baby ko police station le jaana chahiye..!!"
at this point one of the guys could have pointed out that we have been involved with a police case recently(in previous poiltical track) so no one would believe us and hence we would inturn land in more trouble by going to police station"(infact benji mentioned about going to police staion at a later stage in college..it would have been better if mayank had said that)

if not that reason then someone could have atleast said "its late night already so we should wait till morning before taking any decision..."..and then they meet in college the next day and the baby gets exchanged with riya's hamper and then that would have been the case of mayank falling into a sudden unexpected situation and everything else could have been shown as usual...!!
if they had shown something like this then all the situations would have been more sensible and believeable and moreover mayank would have atleast behaved or thought the same way as he used to.... and on part of the CVs showing this was not tough at all... right??

also it is quite evident that the CVs have purposely tried to bring in comedy in mjht with this track. may be its because the last 2 tracks(mayur marriage and gunjan shot) have been very emotional, serious and sad and hence they wanted to bring in some light heartedness into mjht. i appreciate that.... but you just cant make people laugh forcefully isnt it?? you just cant create situations for the sake of it... even if you have decided on this story line.... atleast keep the characters alive and make them behave like themselves not like someone else.. only the situation has changed and nothing else!!!

this is my take guys....and let me tell you i m still having fun and laughing out loud watching the comedy in this track and that has been possible for me because i have somehow tried to get over the character deviation by trying to forget the original characterizations, cutting off all the emotional attachments that i had with those characters and just viewing it as mere "tv serial" now....!!!

what do you think of my opinion..? does anybody have some other view point..?? u are free to express your agreement or disagreement..!!

yours
naya

The polls taken on this forum indicate that the majority love this track regardless if it at the cost of the characterisations.

Does this mean that if 'push comes to shove' people will take Rati, Arjun, Mohit, Sanaya over Nupur, Mayank, Samrat and Gunjan?

i agree.....cosidering the fcat the last two tracks have been very glum, they have tried to make everything funny....they manage to do that....but in turn ruin the true essence of the charcter!

Hey naya! thanks for the topic.........

I agree...this same baby track if done without character deviation or without nonsense or forceful comedy....would hv been loved by allof us........
simply think like this.....they found the baby on the road.as a gang who recently deal with eve teasing issue..what was the best thing they can do? they can easily take the baby to police..may be police can give the baby to MN for the time being to take care as the try to find out her parents...now the same fun scene can be shown as the whole gang has no idea how to take care of a baby.& ria.well for me that character was not needed at all...coz none of the gang members is suspected to be the father.rather the gang can be shown trying to search the parents.& finally when they all emotionally bonded with baby, they find out the parents & give her back.some emotional scene....bass done....
this same track..could be loved by all the mjht fans...
i m sorry.for the name of fun, i can't take my fav characters act weirdly & way out of their original self........ then there is no point of loving a characters if the whole characteristics for which they r my fav change for a particular track.......
thanks again for the topic naya.

i agree with u ..if they putted little sense in dialgues little changes keeping in mind the original characters they would behaved ....or will had there dialgues than all would have enjoyed it .......
now what as u also watching this show without any attachments .......all were emotionally attached with there favorite characters .......when they behaved like this no one could take it .....
its was actually a shock for everyone as fans who were attached 2 it .....
they couldn't take it as a big character deviation they had bought .....watching them since more than 1.7 yrs suddenly u c them behaving abnormal .... not looking like what they were watching its mere faces of them they r sum other personalities.......its a big thing ........
what creatives lost in this is many die-heart fans ......

Well the show has become track centric not character or even story centric....they have been playing with the characters for long....just the recent development in Mayank's character slaying was the last straw...

Somehow the extremely funny Cvs failed to understand that the dignity of a character, its truthfulness, integrity is more important than any "fun" in this world. When it comes to MN the Cvs have always loved to experiment but this time the experimentation has gone a bit too far.

Tthey have a basic lack for understanding human emotions and character and that is how they expected us to accept so much defamation in the name of entertainment. If I was indeed a sadist I would watch WWF or some crappy Reality Show where conscience and ideals are at a toss. Why MJHT?

The makers have got new writers and have submerged themselves in deeper puddles of misery from where they cant extract themselves. As for staying true to the character and implementing the track? Oh Well... they dont know the characters so how will they be true to it?

I have no hopes left on this serial...I have given up.

Anyway thanx Naya for starting this topic, i hardly write in the forum anymore these days.

Regards
Rinky

Firstly thank you for this post if only because I got to read your and Rinky's wonderful thoughts and opinions. How can I grow if I am only ever lost in my own thoughts?

Two issues arise in my mind.

ONE. If you hold to be true, what I stated in my last post, that ultimately people will choose the actors over the characters, then

Will these character deviations ever reach a point whereby those actors will become tainted in these people's eyes?

TWO. My most important point, in my opinion.

If the tracks pull the characterisations along, are the means of their growth and thereby the advancement of both, then viewers are readily able to accept 'new' deviations in character even if they seem to push the boundaries. However only if they stem from an original form, proof or principal already witnessed in an earlier manifestation of that character.

Case and point. Mayank Sharma as a husband. Most Mayurians were against the wedding track, and feared how this would firstly affect the 'youth' spirit of the show but secondly and more importantly how it would impact upon the characterisations of MN and their burgeoning relationship.

However to the surprise of many a Mayurian, Mayank Sharma the husband was a pleasant surprise. The way he handled Nupur's anxieties and troubles, were quite unlike Mayank Sharma the boyfriend. He was more relaxed, straightforward, and very much less volatile.

This 'sudden' change was easily acceptable to us because its roots could be found in Mayank Sharma the good son. The manner he talked matters/troubles over with his mother not unlike the manner he talked to his new wife. The manner he played with his mom (eg New year's party, when he 'ran' home to surprise her) not unlike the manner he surprised Nupur with a TV)

The manner he indulged his mother's noks jhoks/filmy allusions, the manner he entertained Nupur's request for pre nuptial agreement.

The roots and proofs make plausible the new character of Mayank Sharma the husband from his different personification displayed as a boyfriend. My only criticism would be that I would have enjoyed seeing the character of Mayank Sharma 'angry young man' boyfriend for a little more time before he blossomed into this destined role of husband.

However with this baby track we have been given Mayank Sharma the clown, court jester, the Lothario which have no roots in Mayank Sharma history. No roots means no conceivable growth or base for development.

In conclusion I agree with you Naya, a ludicrous track can be forgiven if the characterisations hold true but not vice versa.

Case in point, the ending to the eve teasing track. No embodiment of Mayank Sharma would ignore Nupur in such a horrid state.
