"Main tumhara intezaar karunga... jab tak yeh zameen aasmaan mil nahi jaate..."
"Wo safed ghoda, wo phool, aisi sau cheeze kurbaan us ek akdu nazar ke liye!"
Mayank Sharma, the bitingly sarcastic, mind-your-own-business guy - the last person you would bet upon to declare his love on stage, amidst a huge crowd.
Even lesser would you expect Nupur Bhushan, dreamy eyed and romantic, to fall completely and eternally in love with someone who neither fit her description of an ideal soulmate nor attempted to do so.
"Across the gateway of my heart, I wrote no thoroughfare.
But love came laughing by and cried
I enter everywhere!"
When the curtains fell on tonight's episode with Mayank and Nupur hugging each other tight, I could almost literally see every complaint, every disappointment I have had in the show, fall to dust. At this moment, I am as delighted as they both probably are. I wish I had someone right now to hold me tight as well. š³
Mayank has been so often pictured as egoistic, over confident, manipulative. How can a guy who plays mind games with the girl he claims to love ever be genuine? How can he treat her like an experiment, some goal to be accomplished? But in reality, Mayank is just someone who is used to winning and has lived life on his own terms. What Mayank failed to realize is that his calculated and planned academic theories could not be applied to love. His unsure eyes, his shaking voice, his confession about how she had changed everything in his life and made it more beautiful - there was absolutely no doubt of his absolute and pure love for Nupur tonight.
"dekha.. kitna aasan tha yeh kehna!"
Mayank had to go through all he did to realize that when you truly and completely know that someone is the one you want to spend your life with, there is no fear, ego or pride that can hold you back. Mayank stood here, far away on the screen, and I felt as if pieces of a jigsaw just fell in place.
Nupur's dream man was her Raj - someone who would bring her flowers, sing her mushy songs and tell her each waking hour how beautiful she was. Mayank fought with her, argued endlessly, had her confused and lost on several occasions. But he was there for her when she needed him the most. He was there always, in the background, even when she went on and on about the guy of her dreams. The flashbacks revealed so much of her psyche - Nupur did not need a 70 mm Raj to sweep her off her feet; she loved the subtle and taciturn Mayank who was so different, yet so close, yet so fond.
I could NOT take my eyes away from Arjun's face when he extended his arms, looking at her. He was overwhelmed and overjoyed at the same time, just to know Nupur loved him too - loved him as much as he did. Even as he waited for her, she walked a little away ... he smiled, knowing she would rush back...and then she did. š³ The initial frenzied ecstasy, the realization that they truly were together, the content smile they both gradually smiled at having all the past confusions and tribulations done away with - these were exactly the emotions that not only did Mayank and Nupur go through, but I did too.
Tonight seems like a new beginning - the beginning of love, understanding and respect. Just how two people value each other, learn to be together despite their differences and realize how empty life would be without the other to fill the void - this is a journey I am hopeful Mayank and Nupur will now take us on. Love changes us for the better, it eases out our rough ends, helps us see more beauty and happiness in the world.
Coming to a more technical or should I say creative level, I hope Mayank and Nupur's basic characters won't be tampered with any more. That would just pull this assembled jigsaw to pieces again. The basic reason for them being together is their differences and their appreciation of these differences. Mayank loves the lively and cheerful Nupur who may try to talk him out of his books at times but respect the fact that he is devoted to his work. Similarly, Nupur loves the subtle Mayank who may not always say he loves her in as many words but be there for her when she feels blue. Take away the character basics and you have a rehashed anyone-anywhere TV couple. Not our Mayur.
The precap was promising. When Mayank tells Nupur that he knew he had often been the reason for her tears and assured her he would never let that happen again, I almost nodded in fervent approval. For, like Nupur, there is no doubt in my mind either about just how much he loves her.
Thank you Arjun and Rati, thank you MJHT for these moments of bliss! š
PS: Thank you to anyone who has bothered to read my ranting - assuming you aren't reading this line after having skipped all else.. š
