hi iqra,
firstly - thank you for starting this ....... i was really hoping someone would analyze the songs separate from the story line and purely for the actual song and dance and show put on and i was really happy to see this topic as soon as i logged in 😊
secondly - lemme just apologize first for any mistakes i might make in this post ...... i don't think i've posted anything in the mjht forum in like months and months so i'm not sure of all of the things that have gone down (i've seen some but not all) ....... so please forgive me if i hurt your sentiments (addressed to anyone who decides to read my post despite the highly probable feelings of sleepiness it may bring on😆)
okay so my view on ahista ahista
gunjan's introduction and dialogue throughout:
beautiful ...... sanaya looked gorgeous and i loved how the song was broken up (like the pauses between chorus and verse were extended a bit to allow for her intros to each couple) ...... i felt she was graceful in her steps and very much within her character
sammrat-sheena:
ummm .... okay i ummm did not like mohit's tie/chain accessory thingy ...... whatever it was ........ i didn't like it .......... i liked preeti's dress ...... for
sheena ... didn't like or understand it for
jhanvi😕 ... i mean "shy-and-very-much-like-gunjan" jhanvi?!😕.... and coming to their dancing ..... they weren't really in sync although i must say that i think mohit has truly grown more confident in dancing ....... even though i felt he missed the beat a bit his confidence showed and it helped the whole performance 😳
rv-dia:
in my humble opinion (which isn't worth a lot so please don't kill me over it 😆) ...... they had the best costumes ..... steps ..... chemistry ....... i think i officially became their fan today ....... rahul and navina were outstanding ....... they looked amazing, danced well, and had the fire-like chemistry that totally fit with the intro gunjan gave them 😃
mayank-nupur:
okay i don't even know where to begin ........ i'm sorry i know that costumes and make up for a stage performance need to be kept a bit louder/brighter/over the top - whatever you want to call it - and i totally agree ... i know PD mentioned this and i know why the costumes could have been designed this way keeping this fact in mind ..... totally respect that ....... but honestly ......... i don't think they worked ........ as far as stage performance requirement goes ....... as i said i agree that louder is better for a stage performance but ......
.. we all are not watching this as an actual stage play ....... we are seeing it close up as we would see any other scene in the show .......... and i wouldn't even that they were justifiable even if we were sitting in the audience because the white ribbons and background dancers would be in our line of view ........ we only saw them because of the arial and close up shots 😕 ....... so i have to say even more than mohit's tie-thingy, i was maaajorly disappointed in arjun and rati's costumes ..........
- and now coming to the ribbon thing ....... i totally understand the "idea" behind it ....... like them attracting and repeling each other at the same time .......... but i think the elastic ribbons weren't handled that well ........ firstly it appeared that arjun and rati were holding them in place ...... secondly in the arial shots (from what i saw) you could tell that the ribbons weren't organized well around them since they weren't symmetrical (like rati had one formation around her while arjun had another[😕) ........... and i really don't mean to bash here ...... in all honesty i like the idea of the ribbons (i've been a fan of the idea of dancing with ribbons as restraints ever since hussein and tina in nb2 😳) but i think they should have been handled better .......... i mean if anything the ribbons should have been connecting arjun and rati and the dances should have had ribbons joined to them that pull them apart ........ and the ribbons should have been fastened to them securely ...... because i felt that some of the feeling and expressions were lost in them trying to handle the ribbons and keep them from falling as they did so often as we saw in the rehersals ...... if they had been fastened (like projecting from arjun's belt and rati's dress) it would have looked better and they would have been free to do the choreography ......... all they needed was a bit of velcro or even tape to do that and i think the act would have instantly been easier for them to do and easier on our eyes (well ignoring the costumes - sorry - i just honestly didn't like how they looked ....... especially since they came after rv-dia who looked so good)
gunjan-sammrat:
tottaly cute ........ a pleasant addition ..... i wish it wasn't just a dream but cute none the less
group performance:
it was okay ....... the steps were the same so nothing new to comment on that .......... but i think having them all stand together emphazised how well dressed rv, dia, and gunjan were ....... i'll just leave that sentence at that 😳
well i hope my post was an effective sleeping pill 😆
