Amidst the beautiful hills and valleys of Shimla is the Rastogi mansion. In this beautiful mansion lives Dadima, the oldest and the lonliest member of this affluent family.
There is something that has upset her so much that she has confined herself in the room for over 18 years.
She holds a grudge against her son Vishal Rastogi and the bitterness and tension in their relationship is very evident in the house. Vishal also shares a very strange relationship with his wife Kamini, which results in frequent quarrels between the two. Hiralal, the butler of the house, is the peacemaker of all family squabbles.
He is often requesting Dadima to forgive Vishal, who at one time was in love with Parvati, the young sister of Hiralal. She cannot forget Vishal's unpardonable behaviour when Vishal deserted Parvati with his child.
Parvati died after giving birth to a baby and Dadima's only desire in life is to find that baby, her illegitimate grandchild! Dadima is looking at the locket she had given Parvati. Miilee too has a similar locket around her neck.
