The older the relationship the deeper the feelings and thus deeper the wounds. Ishani was with Ranveer for so long and he thought he made fall for Chirag--the man and not his own qualities. She remained obsessed with Chirkut for a long while despite knowing his true colours. Then, this thought one days almost kills him but he recovers because Ishani makes him understand she loves him. And one day she comes and says she never loved him. He's an extraordinary lover not because he needs to trust her on everything she says or never misunderstand her but despiste not wanting to love her loving her, protecting her and being there for her whenever needed. That's what he's been doing for eternity. He knows she's flawed, he knows she's an idiot, he knows she hardly respects his feelings but he protects her, loves her and doesn't let her suffer. Yes, he's been mean to her, way too mean, but all these were human emotions that needed to surface. About your Shi, well, no one, literally NO ONE is asking him to understand anything cryptic or hard but what's present right in front of him. Ishani, her feelings, her love is there everywhere but Shi ignores this. If Ishani was too good in hiding her feelins, like Ranveer is, I might have agreed Shi is not at fault that much. But here he looks like a bimbo completely. Idiotic soul, actually.
