Mugdha Chapekar is Nanhi Pari

Mugdha Chapekar, popularly known as Sanyukta of Prithviraj Chauhan, will be seen next as Chandni in Mere Ghar Aayi Ek Nanhi Pari (Colors). Promos featuring the actress are currently airing and though Mugdha refused to reveal much about the show, she spoke to us about her love of varied roles and her break from television.

"WHEN I heard about the role, I immediately said yes. But even though the promos are on, they have instructed me not to talk about it." Mugdha explains.

The actress says she would like to try out as many different roles as possible, adding, "As an artist I would love to accept different roles, they would be very good opportunities for me. In my previous shows, I have played the role of a princess (Sanyukta) and an action heroine."

Mugdha's only show Dharam Veer wrapped up last year, leaving her with a lot of time to relax. She says, "I was just chilling and resting at home, catching up with my friends and enjoying myself with my family. I really did not do anything. I finished my graduation (B.A in English Literature), and now I am planning to do my masters degree in the same. I was getting a few acting offers but I did not sign anything. Acting is like my hobby. That is how I am treating it."

Mugdha's will make her entry on Mere Ghar Aayi Ek Nanhi Pari after a few weeks. The show revolves around the Chawla family, who is expecting a baby girl from their youngest Bahu. Soon, this girl grows up to become everyone's favourite. At the same time, the family is overprotective of her and she will have to face the consequences of that.

The show will air on March 9 at 9.30.

The series 'Nanhi Pari' is a story about the family from Delhi's Chandni Chowk who experience the birth of a baby girl after 18 years of their marriage and is about to welcome Laksmi's avatar at home.

On the occasion of the launch, Ashvini Yardi, Head Programming, Colors, said, "We at COLORS believe in innovation. Mere Ghar Aayi Ek Nanhi Pari is a beautiful concept. It brings forth positive values with a feel good flavor. To have such a show at prime time is the key to standing out of the clutter."

"We will continue to deliver a strong proposition of differentiation and distinctive content. It helps draw in the attention of the viewer." Ashvini Vardi said that Colors TV channel is positive that Mere Ghar Aayi Ek Nanhi Pari would touch millions of hearts across the country. "We at COLORS have created a benchmark in terms of our programming," added Vardi.

The daily soap is yet another women-centric drama, and is also socially conscious. In a country where female foeticide is still high, TV serials like Balika Vadhu and Nanhi Pari have been welcomed. http://www.dancewithshadows.com/society/female-foeticide.asp

Roshan Lal, also known as Lalaji, a partition survivor marries another partition refugee Guneeta Kaur and they settle in Chandni Chowk. Karan Wahi on his new Colour show Mere Ghar Aayi Ek Nanhi Pari.

March 9, 2009

Karan Wahi who had first blasted on the TV screen as Ranveer in Star One's youth cult show Remix is keeping his fingers crossed. For this dude's long absence from the idiot box will end next week with the launch of Colour's new show, Mere Ghar Aayi Ek Nanhi Pari. However he is not cent sure of his presence as the contract is yet to be signed "There are still some issues which need to be ironed out." he says.

This DJ' s Creative Unit show was first supposed to air on 9x, but because of problems with the latter channel, it was shifted to Colours. Karan says "Everything happens for the good as Colour assures us better ratings. The show is based on the concept of the importance of the girl child. Our theme is quite contemporary in the sense that many people these days want a female child, times are changing".

Talking about his character, who's name is yet to be confirmed, Karan says "He is a today's guy who falls in love with the lead girl called Kusum . How our relationship goes on is the crux of the story. She being a only girl in the family is heavily protected by her relatives. And the best part is that there is big difference in our respective value systems". He goes on, "My character will make an appearance within the next 2/3 weeks. This delay is because the show begins with the Kusum being born. She will soon grow up . Its good that I did not make appearance then as I would have been charged with child molestation", he jokes .

He further does not have much information about the change of the lead actress. The character of Kusum was first supposed to be essayed by Menka Lalwani, but now is being played by Mugdha Chapekar. "I have no clue as to the reason for this change, kindly ask the producer . Infact I had no idea about it till I went for the promo shoot.I had shot large portions with Menka so all that goes waste".

On his long absence from TV, Karan says, "After Remix, I did not want to do same old stuff and secondly I had considered a couple of films which unfortunately did not see the light of the day. Agreed out of sight is out of mind but even now people still remember me as Ranveer of Remix"

Ask Karan about the SET reality show, Mr and Ms TV he did early last year and his face glows up ." I learned a lot. It gave me a platform to showcase my hidden mimic skills. Only thing I would advice others is that even if they black out on the dance floor, they should not show it for had I not done that, I would have surely won the crown". His jodi along with Jasweer Kaur lost out in the finale to Swapnil and Purbi Joshi.

Although he accepts that many people did not see the show as it had a very short duration(9 days), he still stands by the concept, "it was designed in such a way that you could not show it week by week. The rounds was impromptu, so you had to shoot non stop ".

Karan Wahi is Nanhi Pari's love

The show has just begun and its hero can't wait to make his entrance. Karan Wahi is all set to play the man who comes into Chandni's (Mugdha Chapekar) life and romances her on Mere Ghar Aayi Ek Nanhi Pari (Colors). But unfortunately, Karan will have to wait for Chandni to grow up on the show before he can even begin shooting.

KARAN tells us that although he doesn't have many details, he will tell us about the character he is going to play. He says, "I will be playing a very high class businessman who is very particular about everything in life. He loves his car and is very finicky about it. He's a very nice and positive character. He's an expert in what ever he does. He's very punctual and disciplined, a hardcore businessman."
Though the name of his character has not been finalised as yet, Karan says that he will most probably be called 'Rajveer'. Elaborating on the twist 'Rajveer' brings to the show, Karan says, "Rajveer is a character who is totally different from the Chawla family. He hates sweets and the Chawlas runs a sweet shop. Adding to this, the way Chandni and Rajveer fall for each other will be very interesting."

Karan says that he can relate to his character due to one similarity they both possess. He says, "There is nothing similar between us except one thing. Just like Rajveer is in love with his car, I too love my cars a lot."

The actor, who has previously starred in Remix, was offered the show in June. "I had just finished with my Bollywood projects when this came to me. The way the story was narrated to me, I don't know exactly, but something clicked," he says.

Having worked with experienced actors Kulbushan Kharbanda and Pankaj Beri earlier, the actor feels great that he has got the opportunity to work with them again. "I've already worked with the both of them earlier and it was a wonderful experience. You always get to learn a lot after working with big people like this and hence I am looking forward to it," he says.

The actor hasn't started shooting and is waiting desperately for his shoot to begin. He says, "I was supposed to start and enter the show in the third week but I haven't started shooting. I will probably start by the 23rd of this month and then in the first week of next month I will make my entry. Par abhi toh nanhi pari hi badi nahi hui hai, uske bade hone ke baad hi toh uske sapno ka rajkumar enter karega," he signs off.

Nanhi Pari airs at 9:30pm from Monday to Thursday on Colors.

Karan Wahi all set to charm viewers..

Karan Wahi of Remix fame is all set for return to television with COLORS' Mere Ghar Aayi Ek Nanhi Pari, where he plays Rajveer.

Karan Wahi of Remix fame is all set for return to television with COLORS' Mere Ghar Aayi Ek Nanhi Pari, where he plays Rajveer.

He is a charmer who not only appeals to girls but his charisma also magnetizes to one and all. He is very close to his grand-mother, who he lovingly calls GM. Rajveer has no ambition and believes in living life to the fullest. He is a spendthrift and loves traveling a lot. One day in order to fulfill his grand-mother's desire he lands up in Amritsar with two of his friends to pray for a suitable wife for himself.

Says Karan, "I am really delighted to be a part of Mere Ghar Aayi Ek Nanhi Pari where I portray a role of Rajveer, who will be the love interest of Chandni. I have been away from television for quite some time and now I am back with a bang on this show. This is my first association with Colors, the No 1 GEC and I sincerely hope that the viewers will accept and love me in this role."

The story track will see Rajveer landing up in Amritsar to fulfill his grand mother's desire, to pray for a suitable wife for himself.

Rajveer has a very definite take on love, he believes love has no boundaries and thinks that one cannot just love one woman throughout their lifetime till one day he meets Chandni and falls in love with her. This brings out a change in him and he begins to discover love in its truest sense.

One trait that puts Rajveer apart from others is, that for love he would do anything, he would go out of his way to show his love and sacrifice everything for that person. This is evident in his love for his grand-mother. However one will have to wait and watch to know to what extent he will go to show his love for Chandni?

Watch the charismatic and amorous Rajveer soon on the show 'Mere Ghar Aayi Ek Nanhi Pari' at 9:30 pm only on COLORS.

Mugdha: I am 100% Chandni

From Prithviraj to Dharam Veer and now to Nanhi Pari, Mugdha Chapekar has come a long way. And for the first time, after playing mythological and historical characters, the actress is going to be playing the very normal role of a Punjabi girl called Chandni.

From playing Sanyogita to Chandni, how has your journey been?
It has been wonderful. But you have left out my role as 'Sheera' on Dharam Veer. This journey from a princess to a dacoit and now to a loving daughter has been very long but very special. It's been nearly two and half years since Prithvi wrapped up and I've done many challenging roles.

Tell us about your character:
I am playing Chandni, who is a very quiet and simple girl. She's a loving and understanding daughter and her nanaji is her world. She has a great bond with every member of the family, especially her chachi Mishti, who is also her best friend.

What inspired you to take up this role?

The character is very natural. After portraying mythological characters, I wanted to do something light. It was not that after Prithvi, I wasn't offered anything. I got 15 very big offers but I wanted to rest for sometime. Hence, I didn't take up anything.

Are there any similarities between you and your character?

Chandni is 100% me! And because of this, I had no difficulty in portraying her.

Any differences?
Not at all! There is nothing different.

How were you approached for the role?
There were auditions held after which I got a call in the month of February saying that I was selected.

How easy or difficult was it for you to learn Punjabi?
Although the serial shows Punjabi culture, there was no Punjabi dialogue. Though, I would love to learn Punjabi.

What is the best thing about Punjabi culture?
Oh, I am simply crazy about Punjabi food. I am a big foodie and I just love chhole.

Chandni is overprotected on the show, are you in your family?
Yes, very much! Although I have a younger brother, I am very pampered.

Who do you get along with on the sets?
Shweta, who plays Mishti, my chachi cum best friend, is my best friend. She's the sweetest person on the sets. I even adore Vaishnavi ji; I respect her.

Have you finished studying?
I just finished my graduation in English Literature from Ruparel College.

What else is in the pipeline?
I really don't have time for any other show. I believe in taking one project at a time and giving my best to that…rather than doing 10 shows at a time.

Mere Ghar Aayi Ek Nanhi Pari airs every Monday to Thursday at 9:30pm on Colors.

Karan Wahi's action!

23 Apr 2009, 0000 hrs IST

Karan Wahi — the cute and gangly lad who made many teenage girls across India sigh with his every appearance on the tube — is back again to
A still from Mere Ghar Aayi Ek Nanhi Pari
charm the nation, this time as Rajveer in Mere Ghar Aayi Ek Nanhi Pari.

However, this time he plays a vivacious and fun loving guy, a far cry from his earlier sombre avatar.
In his comeback of sorts, Karan's role as Rajveer will be one of the new central characters in the show. His character is a charmer whose charm is not limited just to girls! Very close to his grandmother, Rajveer's only ambition in life is to live it to its fullest.

His take on love is very definitive. Flirtatious by nature, it is difficult for him to comprehend how someone can spend a lifetime with the same woman — that is until he meets Chandni on his trip to Amritsar.

Karan's entry into Mere Ghar Aayi Ek Nanhi Pari will mark the beginning of a new phase in the show. Rajveer's love for Chandni and his will to do anything for her, could lead to some interesting situations in the show. As for Karan's charm, that is definitely going to add a sense of cute romance to this family drama.

However, one will have to wait and watch how Karan fits in as the loverboy willing to risk his all for the love of his life. It will also be interesting to know to what extent Rajveer will go to show his love for Chandni. Tune in to Mere Ghar Aye Ek Nani Pari at 9:30 pm only on COLORS.

On 8 January, I brought my birthday in and on the D-day, I partied hard with my close friends from Mumbai. Next day, I received a surprise bash from them.

How many places have you lived in? Delhi and Mumbai

Your long lasting friend… Bhave. I've known him for 15-16 years

Do you make friends easily? Yes, I do.

One thing you want to change about yourself… my temper and my weird hair

Favourite TV show…

Favourite Bollywood actor… Shah Rukh Khan

Favourite Television actor… Gaurav Gera

Favourite cartoon character…Tom n Jerry

Last movie you watched… Fast and the Furious

How do you rate yourself as an actor… I am being modest. I'll give myself 7 out of 10.

Last time you boarded a local train… on 1 April 2007. I travelled from Churchgate to Andheri

Last time you were stalked… Long, long time ago. Sadly, I want the girls to be chasing me again. At least that will mean that they are watching my show

Last time you cried off the screen… I have no clue

Last time you cooked… this morning. I made a blunder of the omelet

Philosophy of life… you smile and the word smiles back at you. If you cry then the world laughs at you

Advice to youngsters… Never sulk. Stay positive during troubled times
