Very well said, Farhana. Congrats on yr parenting so far. May you have continued success as a parent and as a grandparent when the time comes. I think the next topic should be why do parents who were so strict with their kids end up being so lenient when they become grandparents. LOL! (Well, at least that's how my parents are with my son!)

Parenting is most difficult job in this world, I dont think anyone can understand the ups & downs of a parent's life & why they did what they did to you until you become a parent yourself. On different stages according to the age group of their children the parenting need to be re-evaluated, you cant be a uninvolved parents or indulgent parents when your children are under 10 years old, then after that age you have to start thinking that now your children are in pre-teen age so you have to start giving them some space where they can feel that they are growing up but still need to be supervised, you still have to check what they are doing, which kind of friends they have & where they are spending their time, if they are on net what sites they are accessing so you become Authoritative parents, but as soon as your kids pass the age of 16 you have to become the Indulgent parent you have to be a friend to your children where you are linient & responsive at the same time but not demanding because this is the age when you have to show your kids how to move & make decision in the real world which is out there, once they past there 20 & you raised them well by showing them how to deal with ups & down & how to treat other people you have to let them go & you can become an uninvolved parent...
and exactly thats how I raised my 2 boys, they are 20 & 17, wonderful human beings, smart & kind, but you know which is the hardest stage of parenting...its to let them go & becoming an uninvolved parent, I am on that stage & trying to do it...I dont think my parenting would be differnt in anyways if I had a girl, my parents raised me up the same way we never get any different treatment then our brother & for me particularly I was a tomboy when i was growing up & biggest fear of my mom was "ye larki susral main ja kar kiya karay gee" & my abbu used to said "bohat kamyab zindagi guzaray gee kiyon k hum nay is ki sahi tarbiyat kee hay aur bataya hay k kis ko kaisay treat kartay hain" & yes I prooved myself in 22 years of my married life that if you had good parents you will be a good parent.
