Why are we considered impure during Periods? Why many of us are discouraged from entering kitchen and temples & other holy places during menses?
Anyone here who has a 3 week cycle like me?
My Gynaecologist said that every women should take one Vitamin D sachet and Iron supplements after your period ends for 10 days (10 tabs a month ).
  • Vitamin D (once a month ), Iron (once a day) and calcium supplements
  • Drink lot of water. No milk and dairy during Period as it can trigger menstrual cramps.
  • Eat healthy. Stay away from salt and processed food to avoid bloating.

So it is important to educate people about the distress and discomfort faced by women. People generally feel discouraged from speaking about periods and related topics due to societal shaming and cultural factors.

Let's take initiative and come forward.

I think it is the necessary requirement to be pure and clean in order to visit the holy places. If a man is unclean then he can also not enter the temples, and mosques. It is a natural phenomenon and you have to obey the rules made by the God. Thanks!

I can attempt to understand why in ancient days people did this - not shaming but isolating the girl on periods- maybe due to lack of methods for controlling the flow for long or to provide the girl with rest since they were much more physically active wrt work.

But now, with the availability of pads and tampons, such restrictions should be left behind. Holding on to age old custom without having a proper understanding as to why it was practised ages ago, is foolish. Period is indicative of the health/reproductive health of a girl/woman. How can a process which leads to birth/life be impure?

These man-made rules may have been relevant at one point of time but with changing lifestyle, some things need to be changed.
