hi guys,

im back with another question😳

i wanna know about the SAT's ... for one of the university we have to give all the 3 tests - the reasoning and 2 subject tests.

i just wanted to know wat is the approximate time that it takes for an AVERAGE student to learn the material and give the test.

this student is not from the US ... she is from canada ... so thats why i want to know how long it wud take for the whole process.

pleaseeeeee someone answer this as its very important.

thanks,

jas

Hey Jas...i've taken it n yes...all 3

Well..it all depends...if you are a fast learner or not...n im soo not a fast learner so i started like 3-4 months before i had to take them!

Usually people start 2 month before...that's an average start

Good luck to your friend on SATs😊

Yes, it depends how fast u are able to learn, and if the student is not frm the US, give it more than 2 months of rigorous studies, it is not easy, believe me, lol.
There are study guides available.
Good Luck.

(u might not have asked for the info below but im giving u all the info i have on SAT's)

Jas, i already replied through msn, but one more thing chk out collegeboard.com that has info on SAT's and applying to US colleges. the applications part is not always updated so be sure to google the website out for these colleges bfore relyin on them for that info. but for SAT's i think u can register from collegeboard. also, there are two kinds SAT 1 and 2. if you are givin SAT 1 then u will have verbal and math sections. 3 verbal +3 math sections. It takes 3 hours (i think!..dont remember exactly) to get done w/ it. I spent about 4 months preparing for it but at the side i had lots more stuff goin on so i just studied for it twice a week or somethin for 3 months and then the last month i did intense studyin. basically you should try and solve as many questions as possible in the princeton/Kaplan/(another one whose name i forgot! :( ) study books for SAT. i also went through a book which had an easy way to learn words by dividing it into parts and recognizin prefixes and suffixes which helped u guess the meanings of these words even if you were seeing it for the first time. this really helped in the verbal part. i also gave SAT 1 twice, so it really depends on how much time you have to devote to it to get a good score. 😳

SAT 2 is subject based and general ivy leagues and other top colleges require this one. You have math, chem, bio...etc and if you give them you have a chance at applyin to top colleges that require these... im not sure if they are used in replace of placement tests (NOT AP) which put u in a certain class ...ie if you have math 100 level alegebra and 120 is calculus..if u do good u might get into calc directly... but u should chk this coz this didnt work in my uni 😳

hope this helps :D

love,
khair

na Jas, i would say tell her to go for it. its better to try and see how she fares. I think the exams will be end of november right? and the applications due this Jan? I think she should give it a shot and see how she does and then apply. No harm in trying na?😳
