Seems like we have a successor to King MJ.
Lady Gaga Is the one I believe. Well time is on her side apart from talent and skills. Her outlandish dressing has drawn a lot of attention too.

New York City, New York, United States (2006 – present)

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta (born March 28, 1986), who performs under the stage name Lady Gaga, is a singer, songwriter and musician from New York City, New York, United States.

Before Gaga adopted her stage name she was in a band called Stefani Germanotta Band. She released her first EP, "Red and Blue", in early 2006. The following year, music producer Rob Fusari dubbed her Lady Gaga, inspired by the Queen song "Radio Gaga". After this she recorded her first two songs as Lady Gaga (Fever and Wonderful) on Def Jam records, but was later let go.

She began her career as a songwriter for some of pop music's biggest stars, including Fergie, Pussycat Dolls, Britney Spears and New Kids On The Block, as well as American singer and producer Akon. After Akon recognized that Gaga also had vocal talent, he signed her to a joint deal with his own label, Kon Live Distribution, and then she started to work on her own new material for her debut album.

Gaga released "The Fame" in 2008, which she explained was "about how anyone can feel famous." To date, the album has spawned the international number one hit singles "Just Dance" (nominated for Best Dance Recording at the 51st Grammy Awards) and "Poker Face." The Fame then went Diamond in February 2010, Selling over 12 million copies worldwide.

She then continued to release a new album 1 year later, "The Fame Monster", which she wasn't intending to make at first. She released "Bad Romance" as the first single, and has been nominated for dozens of awards all over the world. After The Fame Monster was released she released two more singles "Telephone (feat.

that was my first reaction, but I guessed summer was asking if she really can fill the void. I personally am not a fan of dance artists, so won't say any more.

Summerji ...if u mean to say that gaga is the next best thing to happen to the music lovers after MJ...then MAYBE yes...we will know in a few years...but if you mean to say that she can be MJ...then NO and NEVER...
Its impossible for anyone to be MJ...He was one of a kind...his talent is unparalleled...MJ was a brand of his own...so no gaga, saga, raga, laga, baga...no one can come even close to MJ...forget about being MJ...
And now I am ready with my butterfly net to catch all the eggs and rotten tomatoes from gaga lovers

Yes MJ is totally unmatched in musical talents.
Perhaps none may ever come close. He revolutionized and created new dimensions in music , rhythm, dance and choreography. He is the musician of the century. He was Mr Perfectionist.
One clear potential to succeed is Gaga and her outlandish costumes. I know there is much to be done before she is fully accepted.

I'm going to assume a debate for the sake of a debate and also because I love Lady Gaga.

Is Lady Gaga the next Michael Jackson?

I don't think any band or singer can replace or fill the void of another. Every musician is unique. They have their own style and flair. Even if they are from the same genre different musicians bring something unique of their own to the table. The Beatles, ABBA, Rolling Stones, U2 etc will always be legends on their own. Both Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga are known for flashy performances, outlandish behavior and the ability to churn out chart topping pop anthems. But Michael Jackson was a legend of his own. MJ is MJ. Lady Gaga is Lady Gaga.

Is Lady Gaga the next music legend?

As much as I love Lady Gaga, it is too early to call. If there is a female pop legend at this time then it is Madonna. Who says Madonna is fading away? Didn't anyone see "Give Me all Your Love" at the Superbowl? That was like the best mind blowing performance in over a decade. People tuned into the bowl, just for Madonna. People talked about it for days. When it comes to female pop legends, currently Madonna reigns as Queen.

I think Lady Gaga has the potential to be a legend like Madonna. In her early days even Madonna was looked down as a trashy and provocative. Even Madonna was known for pushing the envelope and delivering provocative music videos like Justify My Love. It took Madonna two decades in the industry to be given the legend status. Lady Gaga will have to show longevity in order to achieve that. She will also have to show versatility and range like Madonna did with songs like Frozen and in Evita.

There was a time when Britney Spears was touted to be the next female pop legend. I think with 'Baby One more Time' and 'Oops I did it again' she sure had the potential. Unfortunately, she succumbed to personal struggles. That being said Britney's ability to reemerge from her ashes like a Phoenix has put her back on track to becoming a pop legend. Hopefully, in due time Lady gaga will be one too.

Are you asking which of the two was more outlandish?

😆
MJ was a rare musical prodigy. Another Beethoven or Mozart in the making.
There are many great voices and songwriters but MJ stood out and was popular with all age groups.
Christina Aguilera too is another musical talent and great voice.
Perhaps success is fated.

Plus, MJ was inactive since the late '90s when he became absolutely terrible in more than one thing. People had moved on way back. So for me there aint no vaccum to fill. Each artist has her/his own abilities with different set of fans. If he was alive, we would'nt be even talking about him. Who wants to continue hearing Beat it, Dangerous, Heal the world, Thriller, Bad, Man in the Mirror, They dont care about Us etc again and again?

Well if drugs had not destroyed MJ I believe there would have been many many more. Still he has left a legacy.
