Remembering IFers Maheen and Aashraya

Many many moons ago I joined India-Forums when India-Forums was still in it's infancy stages! What a journey it has been. I joined because I was just in so much awe over Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. We found solace here....discuss our thoughts and feelings...have some heated debates. One of the best things about India-Forums is that I have made so many friends and unfortunately two we lost...

Mahn786ch aka Maheen and devil_drivers aka Aashraya found their way to IF looking for more information on Jassi and in the end they left an eternal presence in our hearts. It has been about a year since they both left us and I am putting this post up in their memory.

Initially, Maheen was my sworn enemy being that she wanted Jassi and Purab together and I wanted Jassi and Armaan together. We would go back and forth on who was better for Jassi and who was the better life partner. Eventually, we put our differences aside and time went on. In a very short period we developed a wonderful friendship. She was one of the sweetest people always looking to make new friends. Just through her posts you knew that there was something special about her. In a very short time she was even promoted to a Viewbie! Little did I know that this girl who was came across so strong and poignant was fighting for her life. She was just 15 at the time of her death.

Maheen's last visit to IF was on May 24, 2005. The following is her message:

Dear Vijay, Jasu di, Anju di, Minnie, Ravu di, Sukh di, Priya, Rabi, icy_devil, Aru, Megz, Mishy, Ami di, Sumeet, Paki, Priyanka di, Sai di, JP, Shiverz, Hinu (Hinni), KK, Sam, and everyone, I have to leave. I have to leave due to some problems. Whether or not I will come back, I don't know. And if I do come back then I will be the happiest person on earth and if I don't then life has to go on no matter what. I will miss you all. Thanks a lot for giving me acceptance and lots of love in such a short passage of time. I will be always indebted to you guys for everything.

I am very sorry for leaving like this but I have to leave. Life is a mess and the truth is that I am tired of fighting with it. I am very sorry but the fact is that I have to leave. Now it's time to say Goodbye… Goodbye with the hope that we will meet again!

On May 25, Minnie posted the news of Maheen's death. Needless to say the news of her death left us stunned....


Shortly after that, we received news that another friend Aashraya suddenly passed away. The sadness I felt in my heart upon hearing that still stays with me till this day. She was an amazing, amazing writer. Her posts would leave me mesmerized. She would create these magical fan-fiction stories. Her humour was unsurpassed. She very well could have been Armaan's spokeswoman as she fought on behalf of Armaan with so much pizzazz. She was really devoted to Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin and she was always on a mission to make sure that Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin's storyline remained preserved.

I guess our devotion for Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin sounds a bit over the top, but I think the show became even more near and dear to us because of friends like Maheen and Aashraya.

I don't want any of you to be sad rather I ask that you take a moment to remember them...remember them just as wonderfully as I do...

Because life is so unpredictable and tomorrow is a mystery, why don't you take this opportunity to make a new friend or two or three on IF today? Reach out, pm someone. Is there someone who you want to befriend? Wacha waiting for? 😊

but reading all this..jus makes me sad 😭 i mean..those hu neva do anything wrong are always punished..kyoon? 😕
JP..i hope u don't mind me asking..but what happened 2 both of them..why did they have 2 go and leave us?..they seem lyk sweet ppl..and passed away at such a young age too 😭

yeh i remember wen this hpnd....it was really a very sad time @ IF for every1.....only when somethin like this happens to sum1 u knw do u really understand the meaning of life.....inshallah both maheen and Aashraya r in a much better place....n may their soul rest in peace...AMEEN..

If heaven has a door then this is my message for Maheen: I really miss you Maheen! You were one of the sweetest and most caring people I've known! Very loving! I definately miss your presence Maheen 😭 ... Love, ur Jasu di 😭

I never got to know Aashraya. But i've gone through her posts and she was definately a really high spirited girl! And you are greatly missed in the JJKN section. 😔

And I really agree with JP. We should never miss a chance to be friends with someone or put a smile on someone's face! I mean this is what India Forums represents - meeting new people, making connections, building relationships! We dont want to come here, read our updates and leave. We want to create a community!

If you want to be friends with someone, PM them! Dont be hesitant or shy! Believe me, from my experience, everytime I looked for one friend on I-F, I got many! So just give it a try!😊

May god bless Maheen's and Aashraya's family with lots of courage so as to deal with their absence. 😊
