Stolen glances, blushing cheeks and love struck eyes meet you at every nook and corner now days. The Gen X is out to paint the town red (err) as they discover newer venues for dating. Speed dating or Fast Dating is the latest in the dating book. Enveloping everyone in its tornado, the love swirls defeat the word 'craze'. With so many people opting for Fast Track Dating, finding new partners is a compulsive need. So stems out the desire to find fresher dating venues. The younger horde is but very innovative in this sphere.
When faced with the deal or the ordeal of dating someone new, it is always amazing how quickly one's mental and creative energies flow. But nothing goes down the drain. As the clock ticks away the energy and the zeal for the date fades away. The blooming heart adapts the dry attributes of the Sahara Desert!
The traditional Saturday and Sunday need to be filled with a date. A Wednesday date takes care of the mid-week blues. An odd Tuesday or Thursday never killed anyone. So, have you thought the venue and the menu? So far any good? Zilch! Ironically, whilst the minds buzz and overflow with thousands of ideas one feels like the Columbus, who is out to discover. It's time to wear your thinking caps. Stop. Think. Chalk out a POA (plan of action)
Three years in college and two in university qualify me as veteran of this social education. So let the veteran of many escapades try to drill something from own experiences that the fresher blood can learn and use. For those of you who still linger in the dark world or have not bothered to be novel enough, here are a few ideas.
First things first. The 'tiny tots' of the dating read this as your bible. As for the first date try some nice coffee joint. As they say a lot can happen over a cup of coffee, it indeed is a good idea. Invite your date for a mid-late afternoon cuppa, an hour or so after lunch. Early evenings are another good time. Keep in mind that the coffee date takes place in daylight hours. And is set for 20 to 30 minutes.
If both of you are comfortable with 'talking' in the pre-meeting sessions, then a pleasant lunch is a good idea. Let it not be very expensive. The key to dating in the early stages is keeping it manageable, relatively inexpensive and within easy travel proximity. All is within manageable timelines. It's not a good idea to tickle your budget on the first meet itself. Wait and watch there sure would be more to your date than just the heavy bills. Flowers for the lady should do fine or rather a rose bud. Load these with genuine and short compliments but don't make them obvious or rehearsed.
In case you are the bookish kind hit the bookstore. It can be a wondrous pick. Browse in you regular section, so that you can pick up a conversation about the same. Done otherwise you could end up making a fool of yourself. Better still, there are book cafs in some cities.
For the recluse or old-fashioned type of daters the venues are perpetual. You could start from benches in the parks to watch the sun set behind the mountain or just go on a world tour on the World Wide Web.
If the way to heart is through stomach always have a good food guide ready. Gather a complete know-how about some nice daytime places. Avoid places where you can't chat, like the movies. After all you are out to know each other and not on an assignment to write reviews! Let movies come later so will holding hands. In fact your local grocery store can be better than a movie hall!!
With more and more malls coming up in the neighbourhood, this makes for an easy-reach dating venue. It may seem to be a teen thing but it's a welcome change to walk the talk and may be shop. Try the food courts. These are the places where the duo can take a break and relax.
Another important thing while planning your date is your attire. It is important you dress to impress, the gender notwithstanding in this case. Do not over do it by dressing to formally or too loudly on the first few dates. Be pleasant and not pancake. Girls could avoid the skimpy or spaghetti look. That could come in later. May be when you are out on your late evening tryst. The guys could be dressed in the semi formals. Remember to put your best foot forward. Before leaving home check for your wallet/purse, keys cell and voila you are ready for the show.
May it be the disc or a formal restaurant, chivalry is essential. Girls could kill for a guy who is chivalrous and all you girls keep in mind that bad manners could be a major turn off. Let small things like pleasant manners speak for you. But importantly be yourself and wear your biggest smile. And who knows a few kills and you too may become a veteran!! And gather experiences to narrate to your contemporaries.
