This happened to me while watching Naruto. Every character had painful story in their pocket. They were dark and edgy. I became an emotional mess with that show. Trust me, I have cried a lot in many of the episodes, that`s how broken and empty it made me feel. Though they were mature, that pain was so raw and hard to digest. Growing up with that and so many heart breaks with each past relating to the characters just created a huge impact on me. As I grew up, I found the women characters really weak except for one or two; it wrecked me completely for being so attached. It inspired me and also taught me not to get attached they way I was with that anime. They really went overboard with sensitivity and was a complete cliche for showing women powerless.
