It feels like everyone has a different view. To me bashing is more like hating and criticizing is more analyzing a character. I didn’t really use the term bashing until I came to IF. And idk maybe I still don’t get it lol. Bashing seems to happen once in a while and I don’t agree with it, but I don’t think criticism is the same as bashing.

Do we have to like and agree with every character all the time ? This is a forum about a show - are we not allowed to voice our opinions , whether we like what happened or not?

Of course the CVs are going to show what they want, but what’s the harm in analyzing the show, even when we don’t like what a character does ? Why do some get flack for it ? Who cares what the producer said? Do we have to only praise the show? Even then, since when did not liking what one character did mean we’re hating on the show? Does criticizing a characters choice mean we’re now diminishing the hard work of the cast and crew? (No).

I just don’t get why any time there’s an analysis on Pallavi or Raghav, and it’s not in favor, things get so jumbled and heated. Idk about you guys but even when I don’t like what they do - I still like them! They’re still my favorite on screen pairing. I still love the show regardless if I like the current plot or not. I enjoy this so much that its going to go on my rewatch list.

I know some people take it too far and do cross into the bashing zone but a lot don’t - it’s just critique.

Idk 🤷🏽‍♀️ I just had thoughts/ had to rant about this. I think we all should be equally allowed to criticize and defend the characters as much as we want as long as we don’t cross any lines. Even if the track is not over yet. Where the line should be drawn is name calling, derogatory remarks etc.

I think mostly everyone is an adult here and knows none of these discussions are that serious, so if it’s not hate, idk the issue.

Also, just for the record - I don’t know what’s exactly happening on social media but it seems like fans there are bugging the actors and yeah that’s taking it too far. The actors have nothing to do with their characters trajectory and the story plot. Even bashing/hating on CVS directly is taking it too far. Hate is never ok but it also needs to be clear that criticism is not hate.

But anyway, excuse my ranting - I just had to get it out. And if I offended anyone, apologies bc that wasn’t my intent. Idk if anything I wrote even made sense 🤣🤦🏽‍♀️. I guess I’m just trying to understand what people think so even I know not to offend anyone in the future.

Also it is not my intention to drag any negativity into the forum, call anyone out, or make anyone feel bad for saying whatever they wanted to here. I hope that was clear.

I’m gonna go back to ogling the most recent bts pics now 🤪 ✌🏽.

This is a really good question! Even I too had this question in my mind for a while because I didn't really know what "bashing" was until I saw other social media sites that had angry fans saying incredibly rude things about certain characters. And the rest of the fans would reprimand their "bashing." Also, like someone else said, I also think name calling is a form of hate but I don't see it as much on our forum. (Though I also am not that active on discussion threads.) So pretty much bashing is like hate on characters, plots, etc.

Criticism is when we look at an action or dialogue of a character's, but we don't automatically give their personality a negative label due to that one action/dialogue. We criticize their actions and question it. It's like we want to know the "why" whereas bashing is just aimlessly spreading hate for the character, plot, etc.

For example, there was one user on this forum who called Pallavi a hypocrite during this Mandar track and compared Pallavi to Keerthi and Sunny, I believe. Personally, I didn't like this opinion so I responded with my view and explanation. What came out of that was a relatively healthy discussion. But I would consider this criticism since the user seemed to ask a question for why Keerthi and Pallavi are not treated similarly by fans due to their "similar" past actions. Whereas if the user were to just call Pallavi a hypocrite with no reason, it would probably be bashing? idk

Regardless, I also think that a lot of us are very attached to the show and take other peoples' opinions about our favorite characters very seriously. Personally, I love Pallavi and am currently staying away from the forum and SM these days because I get worked up easily when I read some peoples' posts hahaha 😆 sometimes I think it's best to just enjoy shows without listening to other peoples' opinions 😉

Criticizing is always of the ‘act’, of the ‘what is done’, ‘the deed’.

Bashing is mostly on the ‘one who does the act’, ‘the doer’.

and that is why, one can be healthy, the other can hardly be!

Where the emphasis lays, defines the boundaries for me, in my head.
