My favorite episode of Maryaada was telecast just about exactly a year ago! It was the one in which Aditya's character learned the truth about what had happened to Priya. What an episode that was! I had such hope then but a year on, all we have is a MCP who is increasingly being depicted as a fool to beat all fools! 😡 😳 😔 🤔 Come on Maryaada writers...you are capable of so much better!

My take from a year ago!

December 30, 2010 - Thursday

Hello M-Forum waasis! 🤗What a spectacular episode. Very rarely does anything on TV move me but today did...and kudos to the creative team, writers and actors for delivering an episode that hit me in the gut! Every so often I watch something that touches me so deeply that I stop "analyzing" the episode and today, it was the turn of Maryaada to do that to me.

Aditya - Priya: I loved this sequence...everything...from how simple the screenplay kept Priya's reaction to Aditya's confession to Priya's sharing of what happened to Aditya's gut-wrenching reaction! I had tears in my eyes and that never happens with me...almost never! I do not want to break this down today. I don't even know if I can watch it again...so...let me just say it again...I loved this sequence! ⭐️ RaQesh...take a bow! It was your show all the way and you were such a joy to watch! 👏

Vidya - Mother: How beautiful was this scene! Vidya was so in character as she shares the truth about Gaurav & her relationship with her mother. But her mother's further probing made her finally share her misgivings and let those tears fall. Another home run writers! ⭐️ Vindya...you rocked this scene! 👏

Devyani - Gaurav: Ahhh...this story is continuing to gather momentum. Gaurav reminded Devyani, again, that while he had married Vidya, he was not going to fulfill his responsibilities as husband! This combined with Vidya's emotions means a confrontation is coming...and soon! 👍🏼

Mrs. Bindra - Devyani: Filler scene continuing to show the marriage preparations!

Brahmanand - Devyani - Aditya: What can I say...such a fabulous closing scene. Like the first scene, I loved everything about it...Aditya's anger to Brahmanand's initial suspicions about who Aditya was talking about to Brahmanand & Devyani's attempts to calm Aditya to Aditya's emotional confession about not reading the letter to Brahmanand's disbelief at realizing that Aditya's love could be the girl who he molested! Viswajeet, RaQesh and Devyani...outstanding expressions...spot on! 👏

Overall: This was a 5/5 for me! Writers...here is a virtual hug for you...🤗. You renewed my faith that there are still shows that can deliver a story peak the way it should be...with drama & impact that jolts the viewer! The screenplay was simply superb and the execution...Waseem...👏!

Thank you Maryaada team! I am proud to be a fan of your creation today!

Jaya ... Loved reading your take from last year. I agree the CVs have made Aditya to be the biggest fool of all. But i have this hope that we will get to see the Aditya from last year when he finds out it was his dad who molested Priya. And he will stand by her.

Wow I'm so stupid! I didn't read the "A Year Ago" part and read just teh names of the characters and was like ...Did I write the update for the wrong episode?

Phew. Clearly need to pay attention to what I read some more 😆

But anywho, loved reading this! Brings back so many of the awesome memories from back in the day!

I feel like they sketched all the other characters beautifully, showing actual depth in their characterizations, but with Aditya, to this day he has had no development, no growth whatsoever. It's these rare times that make me love him, but otherwise he is shown to be a number 1 fool. Even SSP pretty much realizes it, the way he knows better than to ever go to Gaurav or anyone else. It's always Aditya. Why? Because he's the only one that won't figure out a single thing even if it's shoved in his face.

@Fiz: Hahahahahahaha. I have no faith in him. He's not going to believe it when Priya tells him, and that's the only way the truth can come out now, because it's only her and Devyani that know about it. And he'll end up throwing out more accusations at Priya for teaming up with Devyani, and bashing SSP or something like that.

Ohhh.Hm. RD might make an entrance. o.o That should spice things up. 😉😆

Gosh, I need to get off the forum. Otherwise I'll get in trouble for Aditya bashing 😆

Completely agree! I don't think he's an MCP but I do think he has a polarized personality. I think he'd have had the same reaction towards Gaurav if he saw him with another woman (assuming he didn't know about him being gay) He views life in either black or white, for him, there is no middle ground. He doesn't understand the grey areas. He's like an overgrown teenager who basically cannot see anything beyond what's on the surface.

I get extremely annoyed with him at times, and now is one of them. I understand that he is getting to know too much at once and he is probably unable to process so much at this time, but that does not justify him jumping to unnecessary conclusions all the time. He is well aware that the situation is messy and no one is absolutely guilty (well, except Brahma ofcourse) and nor is anyone a complete victim, yet he chooses to play the blame game.

I was very happy when Priya pointed out that even Devyani has the right to think about herself today. He needed that dose and I'm glad Priya finally said something, even if it wasn't said in the kind of tone that I'd have preferred it to be in.

Hope someone knocks some sense into his head soon. I have a feeling Bauji will be the one to give him a good piece of his mind.

i totally agree with you guys..adis character is not maturing. i remember before how much he stood by priya when she told him about being raped, how affectionate he was, how much he was taken by her, and most importantly, howww much he fought to win her affection when she supposedly did not love him (in the beginning when he was wooing her lol). 😭

i dont feel that adi is a MCP at all tho, after how eager he was for Uttara to remarry and how much he stood by Vidya after finding out about the whole Gaurav-Vidya-Karan thing. I feel that he IS a good person with a very good moral compass; that boy knows whats right and wrong and can take a stand against oppression. 👏

his fatal flaw is definitely his blinded adoration for his father...i just dont understand how it is possible to live with someone for that long and not know who they are...everyone from Dev, to Gaurav, to bauaji know who brahma is 😲. it is time now for adi to know the truth. i have a feeling that shubh, devs lawyer, will have something to do with exposing brahma the jerk. (now brahma is a MCP).

I will take back all my adoration and love for Adi, if upon Priya and dev telling him the truth about Brahma, he doe not take a stand. I wish this had happened long ago...😕

These kind of people I would hate to be with.
Quick to jump to conclusions.
I would never think that he/she would understand a dark past of mine with so much love.
Bipolar.🤔

I guess as it goes with every Tv serial, Cvs have brilliantly done the most unsurprising act...of character assassination of one of the main lead. Feel sorry for Priya too...at this point in the story, the character of D has emerged much stronger than of Priya.

If we remember from promos when the serial began, Uttara was supposed to be the caring sister of Devyani and a sex slave as a victim of Brahmas' carnality..not the brazened hussy she is made out to be...so that character also is butchered no less in the same line..

Having Uttara with the 3 women in MLKT banner at the beginning of the episode seems ridiculous to me...It should be Gaurav and Karan with Devyani, Priya and Vidya.!
But I must thank cvs for a redeeming act of bringing a delish treat to watch in the from of SJ (the character and the actor) and his dancing moves..His smile makes it all worthwhile for having wasted 30 mins!

Yes, Uttara's character went from the victim to a vamp. She lost her victim status as soon as she decided to overtake Devyani knowing the latter knows about the affair.

Gaurav-Karan on the title logo would be very apt, but the show would have lost even more TRPs, thanks to the ignorant and immature public.
