Ever since I started watching "Maryada" (which is only from June 2011) I have been paying very close attention to the words they use to depict homosexuality. I must say, they have done it PERFECTLY. I was particularly impressed by Devyani's mentioning of Gaurav's sexuality not as an illness or disease or disorder or crime, but as "fark" (difference). I liked that. 'Difference' carries no judgement with it. I also thought it was important that Gaurav and Karan say "I love you" to each other and also liked Karan's saying, "This is not something we choose. This is what we are." Words are very important, and I'm very happy about the careful attention that is being given to their use in the script.
