Maryaada completed 100 episodes. What do you think about the show and the success?
Priya: Superb. Maryaada is the most unique show on television today. The treatment and the story has been very hatke which is probably why it has connected so well with the audiences. I am happy to be part of this show.
Aditya: Maryaada is a fantastic show and I am glad people love it. Crossing 100 episodes is a milestone and I hope to cross many more. As a team, we try to do our best and our efforts have paid off. It feels great, no doubt.
Devyani: It is a very interesting family drama in a novel package. The problems shown in the serial are very practical, not the usual or typical ones shown in a saas bahu drama. People don't talk about the problems we talk about in the serial. I am thrilled we have crossed 100 and hope we create many more milestones. The show's timing is 11.30pm which is a little late for tv viewers but from 21st March, we will shift to an earlier time slot- 11pm. I hope we get more viewers and better TRPs.
Brahamanand: I am happy that Maryaada completed 100 episodes and people accepted our bold drama. Now I want the show to complete 1000 episodes!
Which is the one character you are closest to you?
Priya: I connect with everyone as I am not judgmental or critical of people. I find it easy to empathise with people. I like to look at people as they are and not want them to be what I want. Aditya, of course, is the person I am closest to. I am trying to fight my battles without letting my husband in on my troubles.
Aditya: Though I love my family I am closest to Priya and my dad mainly.
Devyani: I like everyone and I am close to all in my family. I like to be with my family members and look after everyone.
Brahamanand: Naturally Aditya, as our father-son bond is very strong and we are very close. Aditya is my dream, my future. I have big plans for him.
What is your favorite scene from the show?
Priya: There are too many. We create magic in every scene and in a daily soap, every episode has a dramatic twist. I feel the first time Aditya and Priya meet on the platform, when he pulls my hand and saves me from falling on the railway track, was beautiful. When we shot it, we didn't know it would come off that well on screen.
Aditya: When I see Priya at the door of a railway coach and pull her in. The other scene I love is when I learn that she was molested but don't know who the guy is, I go to my dad's room to grab a gun and he stops me. Both these scenes were fantastic.
Devyani: I have had few scenes with my husband Brahmanand, which have been great. There have been many scenes where I behaved and acted as if all was well between us, though he had hurt, taunted or scolded me. In front of the family, I pretend to happy but actually was hurting.
Brahamanand: All the scenes of Brahmanand are very good as he is very particular regarding his work. He is a womanizer and can do stuff people dream of. The fact that he can get away with anything is most interesting.
Your best romantic scene was..
Priya: There have been lots of romantic scenes that I love from the show. I think more than an entire scene; at times in certain scenes, a romantic moment was created. Like when I tell Aditya about my past, he hugs me from behind instead of mouthing dramatic dialogues. There was so much love in that one shot.
Aditya: I love all scenes with Priya. I think each one had a different flavour. Some had infatuation, some had intrigue, a teasing quality, some were about attraction, then later there were any beautiful mature romance scenes.
Devyani: I have hardly had any romantic scenes as Brahamanand is a demanding husband. He wants things his way and doesn't care about what others think or feel. This leaves me very frustrated. I am sure many men ride roughshod over their wives, leaving them with a helpless feeling.
What would be your advice to married couples?
Priya: Married or not, I feel people should live each day as it comes. Everyday brings in new possibilities. In our lives, we worry about the minutest things; instead we should forgive and forget. Be happy.
Aditya: Be friends first. Trust and respect are most important in a marriage.
Devyani: Married couples should respect and trust each other. Without either, the relationship gets corroded. In today's times when both are working, neither one should undermine the other's job, either at home or in office.
According to you, what was the turning point of the show?
Priya: Priya's confrontation with Brahamanand was the turning point as she gets the confidence from Aditya's support and love. At that point, she doesn't have any idea that he is Aditya's dad.
Aditya: I feel the train has been an important character in the film. During the train journey I met Priya, and in a train she was molested. Both of them were important turning points in the show.
Devyani: When Brahamanand tries to molest Priya, and when Priya confronts him. Both scenes were powerful and delivered with the right impact.
Brahamanand: Most of my scenes with Priya were interesting. I enjoyed the hit and miss ones and the way they are shown on screen. While you are shooting, you don't realize but many scenes look fabulous once on air, with editing and background score to enhance the emotion. Before the wedding, whenever I used to meet people on the street, they would say, arre aap bahu se kab milenge? Currently, I feel Uttara's track is quite interesting.
Which character do you hate most on-screen and why?
Priya: Brahamanand as he is the cause of all my misery.
Aditya: I hate Aditya the most, as at times he doesn't understand the seriousness of the situations. He doesn't realize what his wife is going through.
Devyani: I don't hate anyone. I love my family with all their flaws.
Brahamanand: Naturally Priya. We have a connection that can't be forgotten. Even though she is my bahu now, neither of us can forget our past.
Tell us about some off-screen moments.
Priya: We are a big family and our unity reflects on the show. We work, eat and party together. There is positive energy on the sets. When we get the script and screenplay, we treat it with respect and try to live up to it. We are always working in tight schedules so we work as a team.
Aditya: On the sets, we always have fun as we tease, play pranks and joke around. The whole cast and crew are cool.
Devyani: During our outdoor in Chandigarh, Vidya and I packed up an hour before we expected. We realized we could catch a movie and within 10 minutes we were in a nearby theater watching Dabangg!!! It was super fun. We had a lovely evening with a delicious dinner and chatted non stop.
Brahamanand: I really enjoyed being at the Star Parivaar awards. Memories of that trip are unforgettable. Watch the Star Parivaar awards and you will know what I am referring to.
Who is the best entertainer off-screen?
Priya: We all have our moments. We cheer up whoever is in most need. We are a chatty, funny bunch.
Aditya: Daksh, Jaggi are the funniest and so is Riddhi who keeps jumping around the set all the time. Our director and producer Dia too entertain us from time to time.
Devyani: Everyone on our sets is cool and joke a lot- our director Vasim being the funniest of them all. Though he doesn't talk much, Vishwadeep Pradhan aka Brahamanand has a great sense of humour. When you least expect it, he will crack a joke [smiles].
Brahamanand: I think everybody is funny. We have a great group as there is no negatively on the sets. I find Rakesh aka Aditya quite funny and even Indrani aka Devyani some times very funny.
Which cast member do you like to hang out with? How do you all chill out during the break?
Priya: Mostly I hang out with our director, Rakesh, Daksh and Kamiya. We chat, play games whenever we get any free time.
Aditya: Mostly it is Riddhi. It is an additional benefit to our personal lives that we get to hang out on the sets.
Devyani: I chill out with all of them but mostly I like to hang out with Vidya aka Vindhya Tiwari. We even share the same makeup room. Though she is younger to me we jell well and are great friends.
Brahamanand: I am fine with everyone. But mostly everyone is busy with their Blackberry. They all keep tweeting, chatting or logging in on facebook.
Who has the best tiffin in the cast?
Priya: Rakesh has the best dabba. He brings salads, pasta and all possible healthy food.
Aditya: mine as I bring tasty, healthy food.
