Also, I think its SB's acting talent that shows his transition from a successful strong( 😛) businessman to this 'pyar-mein-pagal' tyag devta who's almost staying in a chawl for the girl.

His acting is so different in the initial episodes.

But now I am totally suspicious about his past...either its the inconsistencies in the story due to the CVs or VS has lied through his teeth about his past. There is surely something hidden as many times zhende also seems sinister to me. Kuch toh gadbad hai, daya!!!

I agree I am also suspicious, although showing VS lied about his past will butcher his character, unless they show some good reason. I mean how can he create such a big story? But possible, may be he just wanted to make them comfortable but I really hope not. I think it's all Cvs mistake.
