Sairat cha success cha credit music la dile pahije. So many non Marathi ppl saw n loved it.they came to know because of the songs just like tp. Of course post that it's the content which holds the fort. Like natasamrat!

Plus sairat didn't have carpet bombing promotions like Duniyadaari

Your arguments are all good and valid. Sairat has been promoted better than Killa, Dhag & Court and on par with Fandry. Mr Manjule clearly knows a thing or two about marketing.

Yes, Sairat must be a well-made movie for its commercial success and its music is also very popular. (I was surprised to find people dancing to 'Zing Zing Zingat' at a Marathi wedding I attended in Atlanta a few days ago!)

Janhvi - All that glitters is not gold - meaning commercial success of Rs. 70cr doesn't mean it's a great film. For e.g. DDLJ had run of 10 or 20 years but it is not greatest ever film to many people.

But it is everyone's perception. I respect your views.

Killa, court and Fandry were not commercial films for sure. They didn't have song-n-dance or hero-heroine-villain kind of theme which is still very much popular in India.

Me hech sangat hote kal nachiket la. Ppl need to stop judging a film by it's business.

That is the job of trade analyst, marketing, distribution ppl.

Audience na pharak nahi Paula pahije. It's about liking a film .

For eg I think lootera is the best romance drama I've seen in the last five years in bw.

But I don't think it was hit.

Do I care? Hells no.

Or kaksparsh is one of the best love stories in Marathi. But I don't know how much money it made.

But aajkal choti Mula pan ya discussion made distat.

Money earned is a good thing of course. No one wants I their film to fail. But in the long run ppl remember the film for what it gave them.

The performance, story, scenes n songs stay.

Ddlj I guess is beyond everything. It's cult. The dialogues, scenes, songs, chemistry, performances, the clothes, memorabilia - it got everything.

And FYI it's not in the list of my favorite films. A very good film TRUE but not my most favorite

3d dedicated an entire episode to Ddlj

Even if we forget the epic run ddlj has (Which is tough to) still it'll be a cult.

A ready, housefull, kick, hny may make money which is good for industry but in the long run will ppl remember what the film was?

I've a feeling sairat is going to be cult.

Yes - be it hindi or marathi - it's raining biopics ...👍🏼 but in this movie vidya balan has 2-3 songs - nothing much as Bhagwandada's life was much bigger than albela.

wohho... good to see so many posts...

keep it rocking guys...

as expected most of the discussion revolving around sairat... but good to see all types of views...

i hv not watched the movie though it was premiered here in first week of may itself... and still don't hv any interest to watch it... but liked the honest reviews...

as of now i am not watching any of the serials ... neither marathi nor hindi except some random viewing of kdp on desirulez and sony's KRPAB (uff what a long name )... so don't know about what is going on that front but thanks NJ for giving the news of WTP of KKG on 26th June...

SW i agree with u abt IPL... i was never in favour of RCB and really was happy to see the result as it once again proved that cricket is a team sport and the team who performs together deserve to win the match rather than the one with all star performers... and that is why i loved the way West indies team won the T20 World cup also...
