We all know that actress Sai Deodhar was being considered for playing the lead in Mamta. While it took some time to settle on Neha Mehta as the lead, some other names too were being considered. Apparently, Rajshri Thakur aka Saloni of Saat Phere was being considered. "But the makers of the serial thought that she looked too serious," says our source. Hence Neha Mehta was decided upon. Coincidentally, even the antagonist Preeti Puri, was not the first choice for the role of Tanisha. It seems, Anchal Dwewedi, who plays Kaveri in Saath Phere was offered the role but that didn't work out either.
