I really liked assertive Kali. Also, I loved the black color she had on. In fact, I prefer it to the color in the first couple of episodes.
I think I prefer SRJ with his dreadlocks down. He looked like a distraught young husband walking into Daksha's court. Grief was practically radiating from him. Only, I wasn't quite connecting because they met, married, and she died within the space of a few days. The passage of time was not well shown. The pacing issue, again.
Hard to believe these are the same makers who lovingly developed chemistry between characters in Mahabharata. Five minutes of Govind-Panchali was enough to send the TRPs soaring. Even a song sequence like they did for Parth-Madhav would have helped develop Shiva-Shakthi chemistry.
They danced well together.
The confrontation with Narayan was too short. But I guess they didn't know how to present a Narayan vs. Kali fight😆 .
Narayan actually had some expression today. And somehow, looked less blue. It could also be that I'm getting used to the color😆.
The editing! God, they really need to do it better.
SRJ had some lovely scenes, but there were patches where he looked numb. You can be numb with shock at wife's death, but you don't swing from furious to numb to furiously dancing to numb and back to furious with only seconds in between. I was getting mental whiplash.
Pooja maintained her ferocity as Kali and her indecision (me no likey) as Parvati.
The editing for the secondary characters sucked! Daksha was smilingly looking on when Veer Bhadra was destroying his city. Then, when VB walked in, the audience was rooted in place and staring. The only one who had some expression was Brahma.
The worst was Daksha's wife. Her daughter's body was burning on the ground, and she looked like a passenger on some city bus gawking at an accident. When VB stomped in and when Kali materialized, she shed a few tears but did nothing else. I would have thought she would, at least, beg for mercy.
The secondary characters can make things seem 2 dimensional. The two main leads can only carry a scene so far.
Middle third
The scene where Parvati asks to go back home to Kailash was umm, I don't know... the words were not the same, but the vibe was: "I love you," "I love you more," "I love you more, "No, me." Not complaining. I like romance.
Parvati cooking? Umm, okay.
I'm guessing Skanda and Ganesha are not in the picture yet. Or they might make an appearance with any warning, whatsoever. Like the upapandavas did in Mahabharata. Who knows?
Indra looked like a selfish jerk. Am guessing that was intentional.
Last third
All these asuras with "death only by women" boons😆.
And Daruk-Daruka?😆 C'mon, give the woman her own name. Daruka is hot, btw. Come to think of it, Daruk wasn't bad, either. But by god, she was shrieky!
And the asuras have better sets.
I'm looking forward to Sunday's episode. Hopefully, people won't get too put off by the pace and editing problems. I'd like for the show to stay on air for some time.
