I remember our days in this forum and how can I forget that your pieces always bring pleasure and again it did the same magic I am entering this forum after a long time and it's only for your update. Karna and Draupadi...they both are my favourite too. They have always been and always will be. A very well written update. "Panchali" - when Karna calls her my heartbeat rose! Still a Karnali from my heart. P.S: Do not forget my request OS

sorry for the delay, i had forgotten i reserved this post, after a long time i read this piece and its as usual amazing, and loved to see a discussion and mention of all those innocent lives lost all those innocent lives suffered for someone else,

though i don't believe the war happened to give Draupadi justice but for the land and succession but Draupadi when believed otherwise it should have been reminded to her that innocents suffered for her cause, i feel if there ever a conversation was possible between these two it might have gone down this line.
great read Riti

Thank you dear for such lovely words.Glad that you liked it 😊

Final Part

Draupadi was looking away her eyes mirrored her feelings as they remembered how the person who took vow to protect her honor was the one who had put her honor at stake the very moment he staked her as his property in dice hall.

'Right and wrong are decided by the rules of this very society every time isn't it? Even our own right and wrong others decide ... Our scriptures are interpreted and manipulated by the ones in power to manipulate them... A King used his principles to shield his weakness a weakness which led to that game of dice. A weakness exploited by his enemy.. Was I supposed to forgive and forget everything? You think my husbands are fighting this war for me... Do you really believe that? They all have their personal gains. Personal ambitions... like I had mine. I was born for a revenge cause, what if I took mine as well, why is it so wrong?'

Karna got a lump in his throat... Somewhere her pain mirrored in his own quite strangely. It is easier to face the battle with her husbands as he knew how to fight like a warrior even after the truth is revealed but he didn't know how to console this wronged woman with words... Especially when he didn't get to receive any either in his own life...His heart was filled with respect for this woman on the day of dice game itself when he saw how she forgave her husbands and demanded them to be free from bondage from blind king... Inspite of facing the worst she held her head high that day while all others bent down in shame perhaps...

'You are not the reason for this destruction, don't carry any burden inside your heart. A War always leave its marks whether you win or lose. We all have to be strong to live through the choices we made in the past and the paths we took with our choices.'

She looked at him as he spoke to her in that soft and soothing voice, in her arrogance of being Kshatriya princess and hastinapur queen, somewhere she forgot to see the human inside him. A Human who was struggling for acceptance and respect all his life because he dared to live life through his choices redefining the norms. Their encounters have always been fierce ones. Both have burned each other, hurt each other and now they stand together overlooking harrowing outcomes of their choices after all.

Both of them were feeling a little lighter, some burdens were reduced. She allowed him to lead her way back to pandavas tent as they passed a long trail in that silence. As she entered her area, she looked back at her enemy with a new found respect, he was walking like a warrior, and it didn't matter much which caste he belongs to. Some are warriors by birth and some by their deeds!

A very satisfying and beautiful conclusion to a beautiful OS. The two reach an understanding and a sympathy, also some respect for one another. Neither of them had easy lives and they begin to appreciate the hardships the other must have survived. This story captures their tragedy perfectly, and perhaps we can hope that the newfound sympathy they have for each other will bring them some peace.
