Had Swastik Pictures taken a version - any single version - of the MB, & stuck to it, it would have been fine. Had they claimed upfront that 'We bring you the Indonesian/Cambodian/South Indian/North Indian/East Indian/West Indian version of the MB' and just done that, it would have been fine. It would have aroused curiousity & been a cultural lesson for all Indians who follow it. As you are aware, some of us have participated in the thread "Mahabharat- Different Versions -Perspectives".

Problem w/ mytho shows is when they try to make a buffet out of whatever is out there - taking bits from Indian, bits from Cambodian, bits from Indonesian, not to mention that within Indian itself, there are so many versions out there... it makes a mess of the story. Unfortunately, this has been the trend since the 2000s - AS Ramayan wasn't so bad until after Rama's Rajyabhishek, but other shows that came up had this issue. Anybody who wants to do a mytho show should pick ONE source - be it KMG, Ramesh Menon, Devdutt Patnaik, Chitra Banerjee, whoever... state it in the front of the story & then go w/ it. At least then, nobody will be able to criticize the show itself - they'd have to criticize the source.

@Vrish...I think if SP had called their version a retelling or given a different name to their show, then it would be more acceptable. After all, there are so many re tellings and different versions of MB but those authors have chosen different titles (e.g. POI, yajnaseni, Aryavarta Chronicles etc) or as RM states in his title- a modern retelling.

By calling their show 'Mahabharat', SP has been dishonest with themselves and with the viewers who've never read MB
