'Mahabharata' characters - 'human' or not?

Please name one character in the Mahabharata who doesn't possess shortcomings.
Please name one character who didn't make mistakes.

So, why are MB characters judged on the basis of their mistakes, rather than their personalities being studied in totality?

All characters in MB possess grey shades, don't they?

So why are the mistakes of some characters magnified more than others?

Do we have any right to pass "character certificates" regarding ANY character in the epic?

Instead of learning from their mistakes, why indulge in name calling as far as MB characters are concerned?

Expressing opinions is one thing.

But saying "Bhishma is the biggest hypocrite..."???
I ask - Has Bhishma's character been studied to the utmost detail to call him "the biggest hypocrite"?
Bhishma is one of the 12 greatest devotees of Krishna.
That certainly does NOT excuse his mistakes. But someone who attained moksha being called "the biggest hypocrite"??? There must've been a reason why he attained moksha, right?
So, how about some balanced opinions?

Criticizing Yudhishthira for staking Draupadi is one thing. Even I do it.
But calling him "Adharmaraj"??? Ummm...this is the same guy who revived his dead bros during the Yaksha Prashna (yes, it was adharma to revive his bros, wasn't it?), and he later became king of HP after the war.
And get this, Yudi also went to Heaven in his mortal form. So, how about analyzing THAT aspect?
Just because someone is called "Dharmaraj", does it mean he cannot make mistakes at all?

I know, I know - you might ask - But Krishna supported the Pandavas, so do their mistakes get completely excused? Absolutely not. Even the Pandavas suffered too - the exile and the incognito were no fun and games. And their own survival in the Kurukshetra War came at the cost of losing their family.

Have you all heard of the Vishnu Sahasranamam? It is one of the most well-known prayers, about the 1000 names of Lord Vishnu.

And, you know what? In the Anushasana Parva, "the biggest hypocrite" (Bhishma) delivers this prayer about the 1000 names of Lord Vishnu to "Adharmaraj" (Yudi)!!
Shocking isn't it?
Who has given the authority to such adharmis to indulge in dharmic activites like "devotion to God", right?

Seriously - If Bhishma can deliver the Vishnu Sahasranamam to Yudi, is it really fair to call them "the biggest hypocrite" and "Adharmaraj" respectively?
Just think about it...

All I'm saying is -
Please don't consider these characters to be "perfectly perfect" human beings.
All of them have made mistakes. All of them possess shortcomings. Even they won't mind being criticized for their mistakes.

But, for goodness' sake, please do not indulge in name calling, and please do not "judge" them SOLELY on the basis of their mistakes. And please do not pass character certificates.

P.S. - I have no intention to start fights on the forum, and I don't mean to offend anybody on the forum. I know everybody has a right to express their opinions.

DTs, if my post seems offensive to some individuals, please close it down.

You spoke my mind..! That 'Hypocrite' topic stole my sleep yesterday. I don't get why he's judged on that 'abduction' episode alone? In case of the other characters, people easily accept that they were 'humans' and committed mistakes. So what's wrong in Bheeshma Dev's case...and even Yudhisthira's case.
Calling him the greatest 'hypocrite' is insane and reflects blind hatred on the footing of ridiculous and self-created idiotic reasons. I had reported that particular topic but to my amazement, no action has been taken.

Agreed. Bhishma was one of the greatest devotees.
But ⭐️Bhishma is not.
I think when XYZ refers to 'hypocrite' and 'Adharmaraj', (s)he might be referring to ⭐️Characters.

But I do hope they show Vishnu Sahasranamam, and show "Hypocrite" teaching "Adharmaraj" in the presence of Parabrahma. *Hope is the only being who waits to be released from the Pithos of Pandora*😃

I feel its the portrayal of starbharat which might be causing people to post these topics..moreover the concept of good and bad are probably exaggerated in our minds nowadays..call it the effect of tv or whatever..
I personally believe noone is perfect in mahabharat..which is why this great epic teaches us LIFE..there is good and bad in everybody..how to balance them is the choice we make..all have to undergo situations where we may take wrong decisions..and some we regret, some we dont..dsnt make us hypocrites..same happens in the epic with the characters..and some we empathise more with than the rest.. everytime I read amy work related to this great epic gives me a fresh perspective abt the characters..some I dint likw earlier, I see in a fresh light, some I loved unconditionally, I see flaws later..tht is the beauty of this epic..even works of fiction related to it makes u think abt what these characters must have gone thru in life, coz we have perspective of almost all major characters available these days.. I humbly suggest people to take time and not jump to conclusions abt any character in the epic coz all have sum flaws and sum redeeming characteristics in their personalities..I dnt claim to have read the kmg mb as many on the forum but whatever I have read from c rajagopalachariz version, shri km munshi, "jaya" and various fictional works , makes me have respect for almost all characters..I hope noone gets offended by my lack of knowledge abt the epic..

I disagree w/ Bheeshma's actions vis a vis the abduction of the 3 Kashi princesses.

But I by no means consider him the worst character of the epic - there were several others. For me, it's a tie b/w Dhritarashtra & Kunti.

i agree with what you have written but I do have a question that why we need to consider this only for "few " characters of Mahabharat.. Why not extending this courtesy to others too specially when people take liberty of calling names to them as frequently as possible...
Just a few days back.. a post in this forum called Karna as 'rapist' - I was dumbfounded to see people liking that post. That was biggest insult that a Karna fan could take... Yes i reported the post .. that is only option I think valid in this scenario and would suggest you or everyone who gets offended by characters abuse to do the same.

No, I am very offended.😆
I don't think that knowledge of the full epic is requiredto gauge at some characters... and I agree with your post, we should not jump to conclusions thru a single mistake of a character..

@Vrish, why not Gandhari? She too deserves equal points for that tie..😆😉
