I always wondered about this, thought on this and pondered a lot over why 'Arjun' is the hero, here during the same time, greater men with greater virtue existed.. This post of yours gave me an insight to why is Arjun the hero!

The last lines..

This clearly explains the reason..May be he is considered to be the representation of all human beings where one is thought to devout oneself completely to Lord. Surrendering yourself to God is the biggest challenge in a person's life. For you tend to fall into the tempations and relations in this material world but to overcome is truly a great achievement. This further explains to me on why Lord himself was his mentor and best friend. When you keep God above all then God himself will help you in your life and your relationship with others.

Yeah, Arjun has been on my mind for a while now ...
Thank you for sharing your views!

very true ... When you keep God above all then God himself will help you in your life and your relationship with others ... this is the very thought that made me make this post

thank you for your detailed reply! ...and adding more points on Arjun

i agree ... Arjun wasn't born with any divine gift ... he achieved everything he did with his dedication and hardwork ... and God's blessings! ... he was more or less a self made man

But your post is so well written that I could not help but appreciate..👏for me the reason why Arjun is considered hero in Mahabharat is in these lines..'Arjuna shows us that while we can admire a person's loyalty to their friend, loyalty to their family and dedication to their principles and promises ... all of these things must never be allowed to become an obstacle in doing what is truly for the benefit of the greater good.'

hey ... thank you so much🤗 really appreciate the fact that you took pleasure in reading and replying to my post ... thanks once again!

This is an extraordinary post. Thanks for such a lovely post. Indeed thought provoking. To me Arjun was the most human character of Mahabharat and a good human being. This quality is very rare. He is indeed a hero! And that is why, his Han qualities made him the bearer to the Geeta. See, all the words in the Geeta are actually our own. Krishna is in us. And Arjun, having a balance of all kinds of character traits, was the chosen one. He was emotional at times, angry at times, irritated and unmindful at times, dedicated and focused at times, and the best at times. A hero should always learn to express when needed, which Arjun did very brilliantly. Your post is very very well written. I am not saying being a fan of Shaheer or Arjun, but by reading it, you have successfully proved your point.

so appreciate your comments!
i agree ... i had given this post some thought before writing ... so glad to know that its reaching the way i intended it too!

Good analysis of Arjun as a hero, but if by saying HERO of MB, one means the main protagonist of the story, then I feel actually Yudhishtira is the one. MB when you look at it in detail is the evolution of Yudhishtira, his ideals, his mistakes in the name of dharma and his repentance, and finally after all the trials and tribulations, his final test and his rise to the heavens in his human form. Arjun is the perfect complement to Yudhishtira - Arjun is the karma yogi and Yudshistira, the gyana yogi.

I do agree that Arjuna was Krishna's favorite because of his unconditional surrender to the Lord, his other faults notwithstanding.

😊

I'd have to disagree here...

by mahabharat here I meant the mahabharat war! ... of all the warriors Arjun is often considered the HERO ... and my attempt was to reason why...

even the starplus mahabharat has changed its montage to Arjun's riding his chariot with Lord Krishna as his saarthi ... in a way its symbolic!

as a warrior Yudhisthtir was strictly average as compared to others on the battle field... and even if you consider mahabharat on its own ... one cannot name a hero ... it's just a journey of everyone

and after the VH certainly Yudhisthtir is definitely not a hero!! ... at least not in my eyes! ... unpardonable behavior ... his redemption was close to impossible ... (but yes of course this is off topic 😆)
