@red-Yes, this has been quite a topic of debate. The 'WHY ARJUN' debate😆. I had found an interesting essay regarding this. Quoting the essence:

"A disciple is not a bundle of qualifications and attainments, however high or considerable they may be. A disciple is first and foremost an aspiring soul. He may not have high qualities to his credit; on the contrary, he may have what one calls serious defects, but even that would not matter if he possessed the one thing needful, the inescapable urge of the soul, the undying fire in the secret heart. Such was Arjuna's capacity; herein lay his strength, his spiritual superiority. It was because he could be so intimate with the Divine as to call him his friend and companion and playmate and speak to him in familiar and homely terms - even though he felt contrition for having in this way perhaps slighted the Lord and not paid sufficient regard towards him. Yet this turn of his soul and nature points to the straightness and simplicity and candidness that were there and it was this that helped to call in the Divine and the Divine choice to fall upon him.
Arjuna's doubts and depression, misgivings and questionings are what more or less every aspirant has to pass through when he arrives at the crucial point of his soul's journey and has either to choose the higher curve or follow the vicious circle. And at this threshold of the spiritual journey what is required of the true aspirant, the ideal disciple, is the resolution to face the situation, to go through to the end at the command and under the loving guidance of the Master. On this line Arjuna stands for us all and shows, by his example how we can take courage and march out of the inferior nature into the peace and light and power of the higher divine nature."

Thank you, I had read this before but forget who the author was.
This is so true! I love how Sri Chinmoy explains it. Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita that whoever can give up all the varieties of Dharma and Religions in the world for him, will have Him.
That is the simple answer. Yudhishthira, being who he was could never be the Chosen One because he did not have it in him to give up all the Dharma and Duties and whatever he had learned and understood in all these years. He could not be that Student because he was a Scholar. He could not receive knowledge as a student does from a teacher because he would rather be the teacher or a debater when it comes to Dharma, Duty and Religion. He or anyone else was not ready to give it all up and surrender completely to Him. Erase all your distorted and incomplete understanding completely to start anew. Arjuna, being however great a warrior, Army general or intelligent he was, he was able to raise above the masculine ego which cannot ever surrender completely. Krishna craves for unwavering love and surrender, that is what makes Him yours.
"Arjuna is the ascending human soul. Sri Krishna is the descending divine Soul. Finally they meet.
The human soul says to the divine Soul: "I need you."
The divine Soul says to the human soul: "I need you, too. I need you for my self-manifestation. You need me for your self-realisation."
Arjuna says: "O Krishna, you are mine, absolutely mine."
Sri Krishna says: "O Arjuna, no mine, no thine. We are the Oneness complete, within, without."

"Arjuna ultimately became the spiritual child of Sri Krishna. Sri Krishna ultimately became the loving slave of Arjuna's surrender."

Ironic, It is Arjuna who surrenders but it is krishna who is becoming a slave. Krishna is the one who was ready to go to any lengths to keep Arjuna happy and safe because even with all the Valour and power, Arjuna happily surrenders to him.
Arjuna is not a divine idol to be worshipped, he is the perfect soul to be followed and take inspiration from because it took him a steady constant journey to reach that point. He keeps moving forward without any doubts and reached his point of enlightenment and becomes one with the Divine. He hesitated at one point, not because he loses faith in the Divine, it is because he is unsure about himself. We all are scared of the unknown. He reached that point where it was either a road to backwards towards the cobweb of mortality and humanity or either it was straight forward towards the destination where we all the Souls want to reach one day. That is the goal of all the souls. Does death scare you? Isn't that because we hate to not know what will happen to us and if we will stop existing if we die.
Krishna often said that there was no difference between Arjuna and Him, that both were Half of each other. That is because Arjuna is an enlightened soul, they are the ones who are closer to becoming One with the Divine. We all are from Him and He is in all of us. That is where we will end, merging in Him, our final destination. You know how the New Age Spirituality works, that we all are the part of the Divine and we have to rise above this maze of mortal world to become one with the Higher Self i.e. what we call God. War is the climax where both of them, The Ascending Human Soul and the Descending Divine Soul finally meet to become one because they are not different.

As to the question of there ever being lack of faith between them,Krishna brought Parikshit back to life, he gave some reasons and demanded that if he was saying the truth then the child should be revived.
One of the reasons krishna gave was that if his relationship with Arjuna was perfect, if there had never been any misunderstanding, then the child should be revived.
Is that not telling?

@Medha- Very well written 👏.
Though I was never aware of any talks of lack of faith between the two. From where did this speculation arise?😊

You know people. The fact that even though Krishna is supporting his decision, he is hesitant to Fight. That makes people think that he was having doubts on Krishna.😆
Also , he questions that how can he have given Gita Gyan to Suryadeva millions of years ago. That is apparently him doubting the Divine.

All though when Arjuna sees the Viraat Roop, he is dumbfounded and exhilarated but in the end, he still wants his Friend back. He asks the Divine to take back that form of Krishna who is his beloved friend. He is content to know that Krishna is the Supreme Lord but he still loves Krishna and would rather have his friend back. And then he continues to do what Krishna wants him to do and lets him be his charioteer. He is just simply following Krishna's wish.😆

I see. Honestly, this is news to me! Not the doubt part but the condescending tone in which Arjun is reprimanded for having it.

Arjun represented the entire humanity on that day and all his questions arose from the universal unconsciousness and ignorance existing in the race. He was not just dispelling his doubts, he was clarifying it for generations to come. And like you said, one has to understand the object of his doubt was not the divine. It was his entire existence and all it's principles, duties and ethics which suddenly seemed all contradictory and worthy of doubt.

As for his questions about Surya dev and shrinking from the Virat roop experience- I do not see them as doubts, he was confounded by the revelation. After all it was an encounter between the finite human mind and the Infinite Source.

For me, I am yet to find a more poignant example of surrender and faith than him and Krishna on that battlefield.

Funny part is that most people judge Arjun according to convenience. And the interesting part is that Mahabharat allows this very well. Gives everyone the freedom to understand it according to their needs.😊
