Mahabharat started already.

I thought there were some intermediate important incidents like Krishna and Sanjaya going as ambassadors to solve peacefully etc and only after every attempt failed they go for war. Also, I thought Krishna promises and donates his entire army to Duryodhan in exchange for himself taking Pandava's side, marriage of Abhimanyu and many more I am sure. Are they really cutting this short and ending in a month or what?
