When Arjun and Bheem came along, they fought bravely. But they were not arrogant, unprepared and drunk like Kauravas. But it is also incorrect to say that Arjun defeated Chitrasen. Both were fighting for some time. Then Arjun recalled that Chitrasen was his dearest friend when he visited Amaravati (Indra's capital). Chitrasen taught Arjun the art of music, singing and dancing. Arjun hailed Chitrasen and recalled their good times together and then asked him why he was fighting with him. After some dialogues and mutual exchange, both stopped fighting. Arjun stopped Bheem for killing the gadharvas. They agreed to a truce and Chitrasen released Duryodhan to Arjun and Bheem's custody.
'Exhausted' doesn't mean that a person is defeated.
