He actually saved Duri from gandhrvas and dury as atoken of gratitude gave him 5 arrows at the time of war

Had arjun and bheem just stopped being the nice selves and took draupadis revenge by breaking his thigh and killing him right then
Lo lo ... No duri, no war.
While karn and duryodhan planned to quietly kill the pandavas in the forest.
Seriously, difference in mentality is so stricking.
Arjuna fought with his well-wishers to save a brother who wanted to kill him by any means possible.

I do accept that he did it with a heavy heart as a girl was insulted and he had to fight for the rescue of a offender rather culprit
