As for draupadi, i already did post my views on the AT.Feminists and Aunties all sympathise, protest and shout slogans in front of the camera, do interviews talking about a women's right and what not.
Gender and Social identity given to women is all superficial, it needs a lot more work on it.
But talk about Draupadi and 'oh what was she thinking? She chose a bad family for herself.", " She rejected such a great man, he would have loved her the best.", " She brought it all upon herself."
As @devashree pointed out, this is victim blaming. And highly practiced in the 21st century.
You see, women should not have the right to say No! It leads to great many problems. It can strip you off your honor and dignity. It is always better to shutup and take it.Later it will hurt less if you protest lesser.
Dont you know, the match maker Aunties just sympathise with her for her bad luck, after all everything depended on a Yes that she didnt say. I am sure draupadi is full of affection today after seeing how much they care about draupadis happiness.
Reminds you of those girls who come to distribute prizes to the great people who did great things.
Great men deserve hand made muffins and cookies for being great and nice, and that too by women who dont want to make it but will do it anyways.Since she is a woman, how to say No!
What strong woman, on that a married woman with children, would be cool about getting molested and abused by a man she refused to marry and her brother in laws?
While some quietly weep over it at night, others protest and prepare themselves to rain like rocks on such people.
And why should do husbands be not blamed? Yudhishtira had the right to stake her, doesnt mean he should have. Because that is what trust is.If a woman is giving you rights over her, now it is up to you how you use it. The other four should have protested. How dare Yudhishtira stake their wife? But they didn't even protest when they themselves were getting staked and turned into slaves.
But why have double standards over it? Yes, Yudhishtira staked his own wife.Yudhishtira was a Treta yuga material who was unable to hate his relatives.
He did send reluctant Arjun and Bheem to save Duryodhna even after the dice hall disaster.
Why let the other Great Men get away?
Bhishma was so busy being the Kings servant, he forgot to be Draupadis father in law.
He saw it from the perspective of Duryodhna and his rights.Duryodhnas right over Pandavas and Draupadi. Not the unfairness done to Pandavas and draupadis humiliation.
Dhritrashtra symbolises deliberate and selective blindness. He was blind when she was getting mentally and physically torchered, but as soon as he felt that it can become a question of life and death for his own sons, who was falling over his feet to pacify the hurt snake. He wasnt blind then.He saw everything.
Let us bash Yudhishtira. He is the sole reason. He caused Draupadis humiliation. He staked his Own WIFE.
Yeah really?Well, Karna verbally abused Someone Else's wife then asked for her to be stripped naked. Not that she was wearing a lot due to her menstruation.
Krishna said to Sanjaya that Karna told her, " Oh, now your husbands are slaves. They have no use for you. There are the Kauravas, choose anyone as your Lord, you have a lovely soul"
And it makes you realize that he was actually doing this to get back at her for rejecting him.He is telling her to CHOSE anyone she wants as her Lord now. Even draupadi must be thinking about the Swayamvar.
Duryodhna laughed the whole time, made lewd perverted gestures at Anothers Wife.
Dushasana dragged a woman, Anothers Wife around with her hair and tried to strip her naked thanks to the great idea given.
Imagine the Pandavas doing this to the wives of these men.Imagine them winning a woman in gambling, imagine them enjoying the stripping while Bheem pulls at a woman's saree. Yudhishtira and other brothers laughing over it.
How does it look in your imagination?
In all this the only one who was able to see things from Draupadis perspective was Krishna. He put a womans honor above all the bullsh** thank heavens.
