DHARM / ADHARM WHAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I dont get it ,i mean at the marriage ,WHO IS HAPPY ?

The bridegroom?

bride is happy ?

The father,sister ,mother-in-law ?

Who is happy?

ITS FOR WHOSE HAPPINESS?

Only krishna is happy seeing the level of effort draupadi is willing to take

My question is why is there need for effort ?For what?Whose hapiness?
Would be mother in law herself is happy ?

For a simple mistake which she did, unknowingly ,that too regrets it so much, draupadi has pay such a big prize.

Sometimes people marry for other hapiness which is called sacrifise but here whose hapiness?what sacrifice ?
I just dont find any logic behind this desicion.

Please guide me ,explain the logic behind this,😕

this is satjug maa ko na nahi kehte ;)
jokes apart

When Vyasa/Krishna visited the family, he explained to Draupadi that her unique position as the wife of five brothers resulted from a certain incident in her previous birth. She was born as Nalayani (daughter of Nala and Damayanti). She had in that lifetime prayed to Shiva to grant her a husband with fourteen desired qualities. Shiva, pleased with her devotion, told her that no man possessed all fourteen qualities. But she was resolute in her wish. Then Lord Shiva grants her wish saying that she would get the same in her next birth with five husbands; she was shocked and asked lord Shiva if it was a boon or curse. Shiva replied back saying "My child do not get worried, you will regain your virginity each an every morning you take bath, till the end of your life you will live with virginity."

In another version of the story, Nalayani, in her haste, listed the qualities she desired in an order that made it seem as if she wanted five husbands, each with some of those qualities (or repeated the same thing five times). Shiva granted her wish, saying she would have five husbands. Shocked, Nalayani protested. Shiva placated her by telling her that the boon would apply to her next life, when she would be born into a culture more accepting of polyandry.

Hence, she gets married to brothers each who represents a given quality: The just Yudhisthira for his wisdom of Dharma; The powerful Bhima for his strength that exceeded that of a thousand elephants combined; The valiant Arjuna for his courage and knowledge of the battlefield; the exceedingly handsome Nakula and Sahadeva, for their love. The five Pandava brothers were said to have the 14 qualities desired by Draupadi in her previous birth.

Well bratz has already explained the logic in the epic for this

let me explain the logic of this serial
Becuase of what kunti said all 5 brother's couldnt live in the same world with Draupadi and hence 4 of them had to sanyas and if Yudi and Bhem took sanyas then Hastinapur will be ruled by Duryodhan which would have been a big adharam hence for the benefit of all the people in hastinapure this marriage was done. For the happiness of everyone and establishment of dharam in the longer run this marraige was done

If you want to get the logic behind this marriage then you must not consider draupadi's previous birth, I find these explanations stupid which add previous birth stories to explain something, if you want to add every previous birth stories then the killing of Abhimanyu is justified 100% and none is to blame.

From this marriage no-one was happy excluding Krishna, this marriage made draupadi the queen and the most important woman for pandavas, this made Duryodhan insult Draupadi which led to Mahabharata which led to Gita ka Gyaan and establishment of Dharma by Krishna, This was indirectly the purpose of Mahabharata.

I think its not about logic. Probably, Vedvyas was a more rebelious writer who wanted to give a different thinking to society. For example, if it is not adharam for Krishana to have 36000 wives then its okay for Draupadi to have 5 husbands. Vedvyas used Krishana as God's mouthpiece so that his book is not banned.

I don't think the marriage was about logic to begin with...also I discount the story of past birth because I see it as an excuse to justify a certain incident without a precedent. To me it was all about politics and emotions otherwise what Kunti said unknowingly was not as big a deal as it was made out to be.
Here is how I interpret it-

When Draupadi visited, she was yet unmarried...when Kunti said what she did...she awakened the lust in other four Pandavas for a moment...maybe they saw Draupadi as a woman they wanted and lusted after until their brain kicked back in...also in that moment their mother insulted Draupadi by comparing her to a chattel while they stood shocked and helpless.

They were thoroughly embarrassed in her presence and had a hard time meeting her eye which put them in a situation where they wanted to avoid Draupadi. They decided to take penance to repent for their mother's actions and their unexpected lust. However that meant that brothers would be broken apart. Draupadi was to be married to Arjun but he had no claim to throne as he was younger to Duryodhana. Draupadi could not marry Yudhi because he did not win her moreover he was helpless politically without the might of his brothers. Without Pandavas on throne, the masses were doomed to a life of servitude and pain and Drupad's desire to avenge his insult would never come to fruition and Adharma would win. If Draupadi did not marry anyone she was destined to a life of shame and pain, if she committed suicide...Arjun and Pandavas would be responsible for her death...an insult to Shatriya Dharma and worthy of penance. The point being there were no easy answers unless everyone was agreeable to forget what just happened and Pandavas were not ready for that.

On the flip-side Draupadi marrying all of them not only solved everything but also contributed to the solidarity of the brothers. Kunti had her sons, her sons had a powerful wife and alliances, Krishna had his way to war of Mahabharat, Drupad had his preferred SIL, Yudhi still had claim to throne. The only price was Draupadi would never truly belong to or be loved by one person , she would have to balance between her 5 husbands and it would open her to some ridicule not that people would jump to say it out openly. It gave everyone what they wanted politically and from a certain perspective was a better life for Draupadi than staying unmarried or committing suicide. The only challenge was that there was no precedent and there were logistic/emotional issues with sharing the wife. Pandavas put certain rules in place to reduce the emotional angst of sharing a wife and well-known sages/powerful political entities like VedVyas, Krishna and Drupad put their weight behind the marriage to give it desired respectability. Logically who could oppose them.

The POINT of this marriage and in fact the point behind entire Mahabharat Katha is that sometimes greater good is more important than personal happiness. Sometimes there is more to life and happiness than just doing what would make us happy. Sometimes its better to stand and deal with an incredible hard and sad situation rather than hide from it just to make someone happy.
That's my two cents. I don't think anyone should watch Mahabharat and judge the people and their lives based on the values of current society. Mahabharat was a part of very different society and culture that we might not understand now but that doesn't mean we should ridicule it. Rather, watch the story for its teachings because the culture and society might be different but the core of the story still applies.

I understand & agree with what you are saying.
The larger good is fine but why did the brothers NOT take a vow to have Draupadi as their ONLY wife when they were so offering her as an oblation to the greater good?
Why didn't they say they would be the one woman man & always protect her and love her.
They went out & took many wives, specially Arjun.
