but ma frnd cum sis told me that nara n narayan were son of brahma n nara simply means human being n narayan supreme soul...so its nothing like that arjuna was nara in his previous birth but its like he is nara in his present birth means a human...thats all...nara n narayan were smthing else...that doesnt relates to arjuna n krishna...confused

They were grandsons of brahma.

Its confusing because you are mixing philosophy with mythology/history.

What your sis told is correct philosophically/spiritually.

Mythologically, Nar and Narayana reincarnated as Arjuna and Krishna. That is what Shiva is telling Arjuna in the post medha did.

Shiva was testing the determination of Arjuna.. will he still fight even if he knew that the enemy is nigh invincible. Since Arjun did fight even after knowing that Kirata (lord Shiva in disguise), Shiva was pleased.

sorry for further query...but vt is the difference between mythology n philosophy???

but as krishna was avatar of vishnu thn how cm he was narayan...or if narayan the grandson of brahma...or son of dikshu...was evn vishnu himself???...i mean if that narayana was also vishnu's avatar???
